Yes they were still relevant, but not enough to change the meta. In all honestly, SAHRs in general back then would always have to be fired at below 10km and during headons back when multipath was at 100m as that was the best chance to get a kill.
The only time the R27ER was ever oppressive was if you went into a BVR match back then.
Yes, the R24R had better acceleration, but nations like US, Britain and Sweden also had a counterpart which was the Aim7E2/Skyflash, where unlike the Aim 7F, it trades the longer range and sustainer booster for better acceleration.
Also don’t see how the CW seeker is an advantage when both the Aim7e2/skyflash and Aim7F both have CW seekers.
you said you will die to aim120 before your r27er hits which isnt true, defending against it is another thing.
(btw you can notch aim120 and then relock r27er because it is still going on IOG)
Notching or going cold eliminates Velocity difference greatly reducing effective range of the missile you can’t
“Notch and relock” that’s not how SARH missiles work especially if they aren’t just flying in a straight line ONLY WILL WORK if there are no other players and they fly in a straight line but even then 90% change of just being a trade
There is nothing biased, the Soviet Union’s poor electronics industry produced worse radars than in WT. In WT the SU27’s radar has been enhanced. In reality the SU27’s radar is on the same level as the F4’s radar.
Compared to the F15, the su27 was born 10 years later, but the radar of the su27 is much behind the f15. The N001 radar is good for high-altitude scanning, but it cannot effectively deal with radar clutter on the ground. When the su27 is at high altitude, it is invisible to the radar for long-range low-flying targets.
Contemporary f4 radars were pretty good, the su27 is fine as is ingame, if anything r27er should be the one getting fixed, the kinematics are fiction. I quite pike playing su27 myself its the strongest 13.0 by far
