I agree, Russia doesn’t actually have an aircraft that forces you to use the plain R-27Rs or Ts. We have access to the E variants on all the ones that carry these, and I think that’s a bit silly… Not all variants of the MiG-29 need the ER.
so then just put an MiG-29 at 12.7 with R-73s and R-27R/Ts

Mostly because R-27R has worse kinematic performance than R-24R. And R-60s anywhere above 12.0 are just for show. MiG-29 also doesn’t have flight performance to be pure gunfighter like F-16 or F-18. R-27ER was needed to give it at least some hands. But with N019 these hands are broken in elbows anyways
