So, today I was playing some heli PVE and I changed my loadout to try and kill some bases and air units. First group I couldn’t lock at 3km from directly behind them even though the missile can lock on up to 5km as its only rear aspect. The second group I was 1km behind and STILL couldn’t lock, I was at an angle to them but even when they were basically straight in front at like 1.7km maybe more it still didn’t even try to lock. I’ve locked onto Bf109’s in a realistic custom before but a dual engine A-26B-10 in Heli PVE is the exception?
were you locking onto jet planes?
im customs yes, in heli pve no but i could still lock props in customs
heli pve has you facing a26 and ad4 a lot for some reason
Did you use the normal R60 or something like the r60mk?
i used the R60 on the Mi-24V
Doesn’t matter how close, lower than 750 m a rear-aspect missile won’t lock. You need to be dead on rear of the enemy target or if it has a good heat source if you’re lucky,
In Helicopter PvE you’ll face a lot of cool aircraft, and specially R-60 struggles to lock into cooler targets compared to an FIM-92E/K.
What heli were you using?
you mean FIM-92/ATAS?

Okay so, what you will want to is, If you have a “laser guided” missile try using that to lock-on your enemy. Sometimes it will work and sometimes not, depends how long it can track for.
R60’s on the Mi-24V
Well at the moment im stuck with the Mi-24V but im planning on getting the Mi-8 for efficient bombing to then get the upgraded versions to grind faster, especially due to the larger loudouts
