R2Y2, really worth 8.0?

it turns alot better than the V1

They are all turnfighters… none of them do anything else or even come close to doing anything else…

yep and the mig15´s and f86´s get outturned by this thing…

Do you have something to back that up with? Statshark is showing the same turn rate for all of the variants, with energy retention being v3 > v2 > v1.

Which doesn’t matter? An A6M2 out turns those planes too! Does it win the fight? Neither does the R2Y2.

A6M2 BR 9.3 when?

It does when you have energy and they try to turnfight everything… I shot way too many mig15’s down only bc I had a slightly energy advantagr and they tried to outturn me.

I know if the player plays not as the usual suspect its not winable, but its wt and these planes are meta

Any plane works when the other player is dumb.

R2Y2 is not meta… the f*?

Badly phrased mb, I mesn the mig15 is meta

then yeah I agree

More or less, but the enemy is actively trying to turnfight you, which is more or less your strength, f84’s, aplpha jets and other planes would have trouble doing this like the r2y2…

Your strength is also quickly lost when you turn… a slow r2y2 is easy to kill

It is, but avoiding the furball with the lack of speed will help you many times to stay out of the danger of getting 3rd partied.

I did well enough, so I dont think it will move down, bc mostly the average players and the above average players play it and gaijin does statcard balancing so I wouldnt think they would move it down(and ofc now its not available anymore).

And I liked the somewhat painful grind/playstyle. So I wouldnt mind…

Then that is a literal skill issue on the Mig 15s and Sabres, as both planes will outspeed, outclimb, outaccelerate, outgun and retain enegry better than the R2Y2. There is actively no reason for either a Mig 15 or Sabre to even engage in a turn fight with a R2Y2 as they have such a large energy and performance advantage that they can just BnZ or energy fight a R2Y2, and the R2Y2 can’t do anything as it has neither the performance or energy retention to even keep up.

Heck the Vampire is at 8.0br and it can turn better than both the Mig 15s and Sabres, but like the R2Y2 is outsped, outclimbed, outaccelerated, and has worse energy retention then the Mig 15s and Sabres. So because the Vampire can turn better, does that mean the Vampire should remain at 8.0br despite it being clearly underpowdered compared to other 8.0br jets and well as worse than 7.7br jets? The answer is literally no, the same is with the R2Y2.

And Meteor was forgotten again XD

I didn’t forget the Meteor, currently the only Meteors at 8.0br are just the Meteor Mk4 G41G, Meteor FR mk 9, Meteor mk 8 G41K, Mk 8 Reaper, and the Isreali and Belgium Mk 8s. The Meteor mk 8 and the FR mk 9 are perfectly balanced at 8.0br, however the Meteor mk 4 G41G is in a bit of limbo as it worse then the Meteor mk 8 and mk 9 due to the weaker engines, however compared to the Mk 4 G41F, it is clearly better. It is quite literally stuck at 8.0br as if dropped to 7.7br like the Mk4 G41F, it would be op and give no reason to even use the Mk4 G41F.

The solution to this meteor would be much needed decompression at jet tiers. Heck in general, for 7.0-14.0br, decompression is so badly needed at this point, as we need a top BR of at least 15.0 or even 16.0br with the current roster of jets we have.
