Where you will see any confirmed range?)
I am curious, what is the conclusion?
I don’t know about more but fairly close. The booster has about 900 m/s of the total deltaV of the missile. A 10km launch(~450 m/s energy difference) plus mach 0.9(265 m/s) will make up a significant portion of that, the question is how much drag losses the missile will experience in the climb to 10km.
what a shit take. Literally flare twice and pull in any direction and the AIM-9M loses you. It’s OBJECTIVELY TRUE that the R-73’s gatewidth IRCCM is better for front aspect use.
what a shit take
Yeah let me try to take CinnamonToePunch seriously
The AIM-9M mostly gets carried by its smokeless motor, you must first see the missile being fired or you’ll lose track of it and eat it up the rear end. You’ll also need to do more complex manoeuvres to evade the AIM-9M depending on your aspect to the bandit which launched the missile.
The R-73 acts like a AIM-9B from frontal aspect anyways (if you’re preflaring), only a man missing his frontal lobe would die to it.
Ah…
Why are both launch platforms Su-57s? For that matter, why are they Su-57s period?
You don’t even have an R-73, how do you know that it’s harder to get away from it in headon?
Ah yes, because I need to HAVE a missile in order to get away from it… You realize people arent shooting MY missiles at me, correct?
You probably don’t even know that the R-73 goes into the headon for one flare
you probably dont even know that this is cope. In a headon, the AIM-9M literally becomes an unguided rocket when your target starts flaring lmao.
The Aim-9m is an invisible missile, you cannot see it launch. You will need at least 3 flare for aim-9m to go away from you in headon, but in addition you need to do an evasive maneuver
No, the real strength is that it’s faster than the AIM-9M and R-73 so by the time its IRCCM is triggered, its close enough to ignore the flares anyway. Wanna talk about the rest of my comment?
No, it doesn’t work like that. In addition, Magic 2 flies a very short distance
I literally launched an R-73 from 500 meters into the back of mig-23, and it went to flares
Why do you use aim-9m if aim-120 replaces it perfectly?
But thats exactly how it works. When a missile is too close, it becomes unflarable. Even works with AIM-9Ls.
Do you expect your missile to be 100% unflarable?
Because IRCCM missiles are good for close range targets that are perpendicular to you? I carry 6/2 AMRAAM/Sidewinder.
I haven’t told you yet that R-73 really likes to do somersaults, like in this video
Игла решила побыть ракетой с УВТ | The Igla rocket decided to be a thrust-vectoring rocket (youtube.com)
Thats not even an R-73?? what the hell are you smoking?
She does the same
Thats a bug anyway, whats your point?
