I didn’t say it was, i was just countering the argument OP made for the AIM-120C-5 coming to the game now. I haven’t said anything about any other missiles.

This is a graph for a target that flies straight at you without maneuvering.

You see how the 120 takes a bit less time to reach its target and the 77 has a bit higher speed on impact? Well, consider now actual battle scenarios where the target is defending against your missile or at least maneuvering to engage someone else. The 77 then has nowhere near the 120’s range because it bleeds speed when turning at a much higher rate. When the 120 can hit some maneuvering target at 25 km, the 77 usually can only do that at 15 km.

That graph alone will not tell you the whole story.

From what I can find (I’m not sure whats a good trusted source) the r 77m has an aesa seeker and a dual stage motor.

Gaijin already said the performance difference between the -77 and -77-1 is very minimal and they don’t believe it will impact the game as much as most Russian hopeful players will want.
But we will see

Well, it can be different.
Gaijin said stuff like “we wont give F-15E PW229 engines” and later(10min) would say “thats F-15I, with improved engines(PW229)”.

I can’t argue with that. I remember when they said no jets past Korea. And no seeking missiles of any kind, and no buying your way to top tier, or no heavy cruisers or battleships. 🤣 it’s always been a running joke that if gaijin says “we won’t do that” it’s 100% within a year of coming.

Oooh, that is interesting. Seems the difference between 77 and 77-1 might be a bit bigger.
Though now it does not have that high initial acceleration.

BVVD, when asked whether the Su-27SM will get R-77-1s, said that they plan to have the R-77-1 be a 14.0 weapon for now (Su-27SM and MiG-29SMT are 13.7 and 13.3).

Maybe if we are lucky and they decide to not limit the R-77-1 to only 14.0s. But, depending on how good the R-77-1 turns out to be, it might not be a good idea to give it to the MiG-29SMT due to compression.
