on the dev servers we could see both tthe r-73 and Mica EM being alot more stable in their flight
the following video was made on a past dev server
and it was later stated by gaijin that it is due to the high server load of war thunder
they can on dev-servers when the server load is alot lower than on live servers
you can see this in the following video in which it was mistaken as a buff
Missile FCS issues, ingame thrust vec msls (sraam, r73, mica) have always had this “bug” (Or call it an unfinished corntrol logic) that make the msl stall himself out when launched at low speed and/or high AoA and/or high off-axis angle
If u are indeed talking about the wobbling issue, all missile do that for some reason after they deplete their energy, it’s just R73 does that too quickly when using TVC. The video seem to be a tracking issue and then the missile just gets lost.
Seems to be an issue with missiles at low speed. I’m guessing since the R73 can pull a lot instantly, it has a lot more issues with trying to maneuver at low speeds.
I mean, if I make it easy for the missile, no remotely off-bore shots, no turning off the AOA limiter. Just firing it like any other missile, then yeah its 99% reliable.
But any time actually needing the thrust vectoring, its a coin flip
When doing off bore-sight shots, what ranges are you firing them at?
I’ve found with SRAAMs that they are fine at 500m
But below about 400m they instantly flip out
And I wonder if something similar is happening here. If firing an R-73 too close to the target causes the same kind of flip out. Perhaps regardless of whether or not the shot is off bore-sight but generally you aren’t using them that close when firing straight
Might be around that, not sure. Mostly playing GRB, so no markers. And if going for an IRST lock first, usually have enough time to make it easier for the missile.
