R-27 Alamo speed and maneuverability

Roughly matches in-game thrust. For example, and context… The R-24 missile is 3s in-game when it is ~5s in real life.

This is because Gaijin has to adjust. It is not “peak thrust” for “X” seconds… it ramps up to peak and then either plateaus or increases and then decreases… Gaijin’s is simplified. So it is +/- a certain amount and drag is adjusted to meet the correct rear aspect range criteria at medium alts. This is how Gaijin models their missiles.

As such there is percentage of permissible error for front aspect launch ranges among other changes, and this is applied fairly on all the missiles in the game. This is why AIM-7F accelerates faster than it should as well.

Thank you, but like I can’t confirm that the thrust in game is the same as in the book. I would like the numbers from the book itself

I don’t have the page or numbers off the top of my head. I would need to inquire about it, and that may take time. I know that Gaijin modeled the changes to 35G and motor burn time etc off this source… What are you using to determine if it is accurate or not?

Take your time then. Enjoy Christmas or any other holiday you may be spending. I’m seeing if the amount of thrust for the amount of time could move an object up to a certain speed. Simple, I know there are other factors and I will try to factor as many in. Depending on the thrust you can determine the speed the object will be launched after the burn time (which is obvious) I want to see if the speed is close the mach 5.8 or mach 4.5 proving one source wrong and the other right

Keep in mind my text might be written frantically and may not make much sense as it is 1 am and I am really tired

Also I would like to say I’m not trying to take sides here. I just want to know what the numbers say. I don’t mean to upset anyone.

@Th_M Stat cards can be deceiving. The missile only ever does ~4 mach in the best war thunder scenarios.

As an example for the speed; At ~18,000m the missile can achieve ~3.3 mach over launch speed… if launch speed is 2.5 mach we have 3.3 + 2.5 = 5.7 mach top speed. This is less than it was previously or as stated in the stat card… but it doesn’t actually reach these speeds in-game.

As an example… at 10,000m the missile launched from a speed of 590 m/s (2 mach) would achieve approximately 1260 m/s maximum speed before it begins to drop off… which is 4.2 mach.

As you can see here, when launched from 6km alt and at 1.4 mach… the missiles’ top speed drops drastically to just ~3.48 mach.

THAT EXPLAINS IT THANK GOD. I thought this missile was going leagues faster than the aim-7. The stat cards are talking god damn potential energy

I wish the stat cards showed cruising speed over top speed. That would’ve solved this much faster

Well, as you can see the missile is perfectly reasonable in the game. The stat cards are inconsistent.

If I let my wt player through, I wouldn’t call them reasonable. But from a step back yes it seems accurate

Well… yeah… the ER is a bit too much for the game at the moment but multipathing is keeping the other countries flying for the time being. I wish they had stuck with the R-27R and MiG-29 players were given the R-73… remove multipathing. Would make for some interesting BVR vs WVR engagements.

Just keep in mind I only have top tier jets in USA so I get rinsed by these missile left and right and I cant grind for the aim9m because I can’t get a kill

I’ve had “top tier” in all nations besides Britain (refuse to grind that TT)… since top tier was just rank 5…
I remember when the game had 20 tiers.

I still would wish the aim-7 where better aka viable in any shape

Russian main defending Russian Cope weapons again

I’ve been playing for 12 years and have 16,000 hours in-game

The Russian tech tree was one of the last I grinded.

My name hasn’t always been MiG_23M…

The irony is that you’re coping in the very comment you mentioned the word.

I’m a die hard American patriot… and yet I remain unbiased. Save your energy and avoid leaving such ignorant comments in the future 🙏👍
