The 2 main things they perma ban for are boting and hacking so don’t try those ever because they will perma ban you and
I don’t even think you can do that on PS lol
You’ll be surprised what lengths some people will go too. It’s sad
Yeh but sometimes it’s funny to see low tier players accusing lvl 100’s of hacking.
No
Air sim until 5.7 as max lobby tier is fun.
Once it hits 6.0, the ju-288 menace makes finding a functional lobby too annoying to bother.
As a soft minimum, I see 3.0 as sort of the usual point where planes stop having weird scopes that mess with the camera and start having decent engine and gun performance.
Sim becomes unfun when there’s an air event and the skies fill with zombers and people leaving the moment they die one time.
GRB is fun when there aren’t a lot of planes and it’s Sands of Sinai, Tunisia or a similar map.
GSB is fun when I can actually play my vehicles (very rare as mood rarely lines up; rather just fly usually.)
Most fun I have is when my plane is utterly wrecked and barely holding on to dear life and I make a skin-of-teeth landing.
Thank you all for 126 replies when I made this topic I didn’t expect my topic to be very popular.
Open if you are curious
@Константинович7 said I should have a roll called Poll guy is this a good Idea?
If you opened that /\
- Yes for Poll Guy roll
- No
If you like the Pz 4s than you will like the Turan 3 as well.
Ok
I’m actually obsessed with preserving the vehicles, only few CAP I played are the SU-11, nothing beats the satisfaction of having several kills then return to the airfield and J out to get back into ground vehicles.
The answer to that is a stern no. It can be fun when the stars align once every week.
War Thunder at its core, is fun. Driving tanks and flying planes in a medium that doesn’t require memorizing an entire cockpit, is fun. What sours the game for me is Gaijin. The deceptive marketing, the terrible community managers and bug report managers and the miscommunication between them, moderators who sometimes speak on behalf of Gaijin and then sometimes throw out the “hey man, I don’t work there. Im just a mod” shtick, being insulted by the creative director for not knowing how F2P, the sheer amount of half baked features and bugs…I geninuely believe the game could be better under the likes of EA or company.
I guess having a lack of competition plays a role in all of that but yeah.
Gaijin just wants money
And to a certain extent thats fine. Like I get there are salaries to pay, development costs, building or studio rent, server maintenance, and such. Gaijin has to make money as does any other business. But there are good ways to do it and scummy ways.
FOMO, however you want to cut and rationalize it, is scummy. Lackluster battlepasses that ignore player feedback on improvements. Creating and relying on a progression system that is painfully slow and tedius but hey, buy some premium account and it will only be slightly less terrible. Its pay-for-convenience. Which, by its very nature, means the base game is designed to be inconvenient.
They’ve only recently addressed this but selling GE vehicles for prices or amounts not easily obtained in their own store. Oh, heres a premium tank for 8093 GE but we dont sell that. So you could buy a 10,000 GE pack or you can get a 5K, 2.5K, and a 1000 GE pack. They didn’t change that out of the goodness of their heart but because the EU is cracking down on what they themselves called scummy business practices.

I have spoken with a few 10 plus year veterans of the game and they’ve said this exact same thing. That the game now is worse than it was a decade ago. That is wild to think about.
That a bad example by any mean. You can use literally ANYTHING as an example. And time change , no shit Gaijin need more money to sustain whatever the operating cost. Given their company is not small anymore. They are far from the worst dev on the planet, if you say so you clearly have not seen what other dev are doing.
And no I can assure you that they don’t mute outright squash any post that contain criticism. You can look for 5s and there a post with thousands of reply and it is still on
Do i have fun ?
I play max 10 matches per day
Usually quit after 5 or so
Before they moved to this new ugly and useless forum they used to delete all criticism and ban a lot of players who dared to hold honest non biased opinions.
Now they let posts stay but simply ignore it or have one of their fanboys (you all know who they are) come and try to sidetrack conversation with their usual B.S.
Can’t use “they have grown as an excuse” …they should’ve learned from that process and time and yet they didn’t …still running events in same way ,still have those box sales for lions that are fixed from their end ,still keep committing cardinal sin of introducing vehicles to BR’s that are way lower than they should be without any regard for health of the game .
I see the game as sub-based with the opportunity to be able to log-in and do stuff when you want to be semi-active or try new things when you are on a break. That’s how i operate it.
Also, BPs/events for me is a nice addition in my objectives/to do list. Even if i don’t care about the vehicles they offer, i can always sell, get money for free subs or buy things i like on discounts.
I’m not saying they don’t have “scummy tactics” , but you can bypass it by adapting to it and make it work for you!
I play 12 years. The answer is… Yesnoyesmaybenah.
When you had up to t5 jets, for example , many people didn’t even care about those jets…most of us were t3/4 mains - even if we grinded passively those jets.
Also , back there we had events with historical match ups every week, so if you didn’t like RB/ bored you could play those and usually they had RP/SL modifiers so they helped the grind.
That means , the grind wasn’t really long anyway (mostly because the very expensive stuff you may not even want to play them) but was still long.
Then there is… the historical accuracy thing. It’s easier (?) to find things that you know they are not classified , while some things even for planes from the 80s might still be classified .
Also the complexity. What you had? Gunfights… Ok. That’s that.
The more modern things, you have early IR, mid-IR, modern IR, IRCCM modern IR, SARH, beam riding, ARH, WVR/mid-range BVR/ long range-BVR and each missile has its own things and every plane has its own things forelectronics/avionics and even CMs where many planes may hd pods instead or rely more in their electronics suit that you may or may not have permision to use for the game and go figure balance it all…
You see i didn’t either go to flight characteristics of the planes. Armament alone is way more complex and not all of us have the same knowledge or understanding or adaptability .
I’m not saying if GJ are good or bad, i’m saying even if they are bad… it’s not so easy at it seems to actually make it good , while back there was way easier for them to make it feel better or fix some things.
And then you have the community. Back there our problem was to find papers that prove that X worked like this and Y worked like this. Many posts about bugs/MM etc./gameplay.
Now they are like…add this add that add C add E.
I haven’t seen many people (realtively) to have a strong point in “make a patch for new MM” , “only maps patch” , don’t add anything fix things around in a big patch.Even if the discussion starts about those issues, someone will start X vehicle OP Y mains are crap … not the MM is crap -generally.
Even if someone else starts something, here…get it :
Game needs decompression at 15.0 Brs. you’ll find more saying no, because 15.0 is too much, than seeing the bigger picture -decompression- , let alone there are people not knowing what decompression is but stating opinions that it doesn’t even need.
Someone will say 0,7 spread , someone will fk up the discussion because he won’t understand even what the spread means.
With that community, without a clear direction, if i was GJ i’d make the same …fk 'em , i’d tell you go play customs, they are as balanced as it goes.
If you ask wrong things , you’ll get wrong things…or what the dev believes is right.
Sorry for the wall of text, but i want to explain why i say the things i say.
And i’m not supporting GJs opinions, but community’s attitude in many parts doesn’t help either.
GJ is a company. They’ll do what is better for their wallet. You (every you and every me) as a customer, why you ask the next best plane , instead of new MM for example?
Myself i use to say it was better in the past , but that’s not the whole story . Mostly we just don’t see improvements in parts of the game they should have change as we went to more modern equipment.
TLDR:
It’s not only GJ fault. Community plays big part of it.
