I have fun in the pre jet era games but can’t play more than 3 games before I notice the rp bar on the plane I am trying to unlock is hardly moving. The grind kills me, no or slow progression just kills the game for me. Unfortunately it it is obvious the game is designed more about forcing people to pay for the stupidly expensive premium stuff than it is for fun. Shame as the game would be really good but having to play 30+ matches just to get something new to fly is too much, not mentioning levelling active planes and crews. Playing on off now since launch and still not got to jets although I would not be interested in the missile based jets wasjust hoping to reach the korean era jets at most.

no one has fun in war thunder. war thunder is an addiction. addictions arnt fun. you dont admit you have an addiction, so you squirm around it, saying you have fun playing war thunder. but war thunder isnt fun. its an addiction. and you cant stop addictions so easily.
when was the last time gaijin actually released some fun vehicles? a new branch added to a country? an actual branch, not one vehicle thats copy pasted into 4 other trees.
gaijin should have less updates. less updates, with more content. not more updates with lack luster content. every update they break stuff. volumetric armor. trees respawning. solid shells not spalling. the freaking store racks in the holland map that can stop 120mm apfsds shells. the fact you can kill 11 guys and still not get enough points for a nuke, while every simpleton who dies once can spawn a fully loaded bomber.
every update, gaijin break the game further and further. they keep adding more complex mechanics, but they dont implement them correctly. over pressure mechanic is too powerful. shell break too annoying. apds next to worthless compared to other types of shells. trees respawning (they fixed that bug 2x and its still coming back every second update)
so gaijin. less updates. more content. if you have less updates, you have longer periods between breaking the game. since you break the game less often, theres less complaining.
War thunder is where I have fun.

…i beat the system (part II) in prop Air RB when i am able to get away with a basic mistake and can allow others (either rookies or bomber pilots) to get free mission score / SL / RP just by occupying & neutralizing the last enemy player - and extend the game time to 25 minutes in order to maximize their SL & RP income.
Example:

In this Air RB match i scored 3 way too easy kills (3 fighters) - but i overlooked a high Fw 190. He had a whopping 6 km altitude advantage and was specialized in 190s (very good stats) - so he could BnZ me the whole day.

My team (a MiG 3 and a Ki.43) saved me (the MiG was somehow at 8 km…) and died either due to wing ripping (MiG 3) or enemy af aaa (Ki-43). As i saw that i was left alone with 3 bombers (2 x DB-3, 1 x Pe-2) and 2 rookies in fighters (Ms 410 & A6M2) i decided to cover them and deny the enemy player to score.

The 190 refused to sacrifice his positioning by attacking the low flying bomber pilots as i flew top cover for them.

Based on the replay my team scored ~ 2.500 free mission score in the remaining 10 minutes (match ended after 25 minutes by time) in total with PvE actions whilst i kept the 190 occupied - he ended the match with 0 points.
Most players forget that the overwhelming majority of RP in Air RB is generated by survival time / match duration. So it is actually counterproductive to end a match after 15 minutes if you can control the last enemy and your team can get free mission score - assuming that you are satisfied with your own current mission score.
This is (ofc) not in gaijin’s interest - as it increases SL/RP income of players - that’s why i try to do this as often as i can.
But: Gaijin has several ways to kill fun
I have zero fun when i have somehow a good session in Air RB (meaning for me: win streak and not dying multiple matches in a row) and gaijin brings their RNG hammer and kills you out of nowhere without any player interaction.
Getting hit by midfield aaa in props (outside time travelling M163s or Rolands) is extremely rare - but somehow you got killed out of nowhere by them.

I lost this match (replay link) as i got hit by midfield aaa at ~ 21:15. Whilst playing 2 vs 1 vs a Typhoon running the whole match (his mission score was 242 points…) my team had just a slight ticket disadvantage. So all i had to do was to kill 4 x arty or aaa to win. And the game says: No…and you get killed by heavy mid-map aaa…
