Questions about other peoples experiences with Russian 7.7 ground lineups

I wanted to ask other players about their experiences with the Russian tech tree’s 7.7 BR ground vehicles. I personally find it’s vehicles in this BR range to be quite sub par, granted I have never embraced a high mobility playstyle.

I have been playing Russian 7.7 for a while, granted I do not use the medium tanks, instead favoring the heavy tanks and SPGs.

In my experience while you have good armour, in some cases it is even flaking resistent if you are careful with your positioning and react quickly enough. However the exaggerated length of your reload on the D25T combined with being limited to only APHE and HE with a gun that is not particularly powerful makes for a rather painful experience. I find that close encounters are too dangerous to engage in due to your glacially slow reload and lack of reliable penetration against other nations 7.7 lineups. Mid range works decently well provided you can fine cover to corner peak and long range is rather difficult doe to the lack of a range finder, except on the Object 268.

The main issues I faced were usually Conquerors, M103s and Fochs, the last of which being a paper tank. Ofcourse These vehicles can all effectively penetrate all Soviet 7.7 and near vehicle, have range finders and are, with the exception of an exposed Conqueror, very difficult to kill from the front. They also have quicker reloads.

I honestly found ATGM carriers to be much less of a threat than these 3.

I also find it very strange that in spite of being very similar in stats that the T10M is at 8.3 when the Conqueror and M103 are at 7.7. The T10M does not have especially good armour, it has a much reduced protection arc and still no range finder.

The playstyle generally follows the same agenda since 6.7 to 7.7 - take your time. Due to this I generally dislike this BR since I could just go and play T-10M and have a blast, instead I have to wait for 25 seconds to reload a 122mm gun that’s generally outdated, I mean you’re literally using IS-2 gun through 2 more tanks. Atleast SPAA options are okay.

I’m assuming you’re refuting to the is4m which in my experience is quite competitive at 7.7. Without getting too far into the weeds I would suggest adjusting your play style to mid range and heavily use cover, (also playing around your teammates) until the later part of the match than you can become more aggressive because most everyone’s good tanks will have been destroyed by then. Really at 7.7 armor starts being useless because like you stated there’s a lot of other heavy tanks with extremely high pen, and almost every light and medium tank has access to heat. With your long reload you have to be patient and pick your targets carefully. Having a good understanding of the maps is also pretty important, knowing where to position yourself will be more advantages than anything else you could possibly do.

Just play 7.3, it’s much better and never play Soviet 8.0 - it often plays vs 9.0
