So does the PZH2000 have thermal imaging
it does not
I need this thing in my German line ups so bad lol
The fact that we haven’t had this in a long time is a crime, this should’ve come shortly after Japan and Sweden got their SPGs
Most German WW2 howitzer carrying SPG’s could they had the sights for them and they were used in such a manner once a blue moon…
10.5 cm leFH 16 auf Geschützwagen Mk.VI(e)
The 10.5cm leichte Feld Haubitze 16 gun was not very useful in the direct-fire mode against enemy armored vehicles. It could only penetrate 52 mm (2 in) of armor plate at a very short range of 500 meters.
15 cm sIG 33 (Sf) auf Panzerkampfwagen I Ausf B
There was no room to stow any ammunition, so it had to be carried by a separate vehicle. When mounted, the sIG 33 had a total traverse of 25° and could elevate from -4° to +75°. The gun used an Rblf36 sight. The chassis was overloaded and breakdowns were frequent. The vehicle’s extreme height and lack of on-board ammunition were severe tactical drawbacks.
15 cm sIG 33 auf Fahrgestell Panzerkampfwagen II (Sf)
(already ingame)
15 cm sIG 33/2 (Sf.) auf Jagdpanzer 38(t)
This gun was not designed as an anti-tank gun. It was normally used to fire high explosive HE shells over the heads of advancing German troops at targets plotted on a map. This is called indirect fire. Occasionally, it was called upon to fire at enemy positions it could see. This is called direct fire. The two part I Gr 33 HE shell was filled with 8.3 kg (18 lbs) of pressed TNT with smoke box and standard Zdlg. 36 exploder system. The total weight of the fused round was 38 kg (84 lbs)
just going to post some of the rest quickly, this is by far not a complete comprehensive list.
10.5 cm leFH 18/6 auf Waffenträger IVb Heuschrecke 10
Hummel (Sd.Kfz. 165)
Sturm-Infanteriegeschütz 33B
Sd.Kfz. 124 Wespe (-5 deg +42 deg)
15 cm sIG 33 (Sf) auf Panzerkampfwagen 38(t) Grille (multiple variants)
PERI-R19 mod?
thats not the direct fire sight, the one we will be using in WT, which is the direct fire sight, is the TN80
the PERI-R19 mod is the indirect fire sight
ok,thanks
Does anybody have a photo about PzH 2000’s Charge Storage?
Need to draw its charge storage space. Below is the picture I’m currently working on.
Spoiler
It need to be total 48 cylinders, I can’t found another 12 cylinder’s position.
The Italian army launched an upgrade programme for theyr PZh2000 (the new upgrade feature a new balistic calculator, a firefighting sistem in the turret, a new air conditioning sistem, upgraded electronics (wich will allow for new sistems like an unmanned turret to be implemented in future) and new structural modifications for automate the programmation of latest generation ammo).
My headcannon is that it hasnt been added into the game because its been absurdly effective irl and ppl of russian descent arent exactly fans of that fact… xD
You arrangement seems to be about right. The error seems to be in the 48 cylinders.
Each cylinder holds 8 modular charges (according to Tankograd) for a total of 288… Which is 36 cylinders. This matches what we see in the Pzh’s bustle.
It can alternatively store 48 rod-shaped propellant charges according to some sources. Though Tankograd is also conflicting with itself here. Not sure how they are distributed. KNDS does not mention “48” at all, only that an equivalent number of rod/bag shaped propellants can be stored.
The render below suggest your layout is correct.
I also entertained the though of using Pzh 2000 in Warthunder as it was supposed to, so I plugged in the numbers into my artillery computer (originally made for Arma3, but tweaked to use WT numbers):
L15A1 and DM121 top charges at 1600, 8000, 13000 and 25000 meter range.
Dashed are the direct fire lines, and solid are the indirect fire line.
The problem becomes quickly apparent.
- Pzh has an elevation limit of 65°, meaning with these round can only fire indirectly past 14km.
- Using a slope or rock one could by pass the limit, but this is difficult to do everywhere.
- In War thunder rounds above a certain altitude or below a certain speed will depspawn, this means sharp parabola trajectories are not possible.
- Long time to target. 50s in WT are a long time.
A key to this could be the modular charges. Shooting L15A1 with 3 charges from an L47 puts it at 284m/s, so around 300m/s for an L52.
Here the arcs for direct fire, wich arcs the shells about 40-100 meters high with good travel time.
Indirect might also be possible with rounds below 300m/s:
Spoiler
Travel time is still 40-50s, but this might still be good enough against SPAAs sitting in their spawn.
So try to keep an eye open for sources on the muzzle velocity of those shells with 3, 2 or just 1 modular charge. It will be essential to make this vehicle useful in WT.
Despite that it will still be difficult to use in practice, as SPHs do not get drones, so designating a target remains challenging without a wingman. The distance calculation is also doable, however calculating the altitude difference between yourself and the target will require some more work.
TL;DR. War Thunder maps are too small, so most Artillery will never work as intended. Probably why Gajin wont develop any mechanics for it regardless whether it would be useful or annoying to deal with.
Yes, it seems 36 cyilnder is correct amount.
I can’t found any spaces for 48 cylinders.
Spoiler
btw where is this picture from? it looks like side of turret have spall liner.
Yes the entire vehicles roof from driver to rear is covered in spall liners. On the lower hull side only in some areas afaik where it was possible space wise. The floor isnt due to the autoloader and the shell storage.
I can recommend this video from Ukraine, it shows much of the insides in great detail:

I’ve actually thought of making a modular bagged charge suggestion post in the past. General idea was to make it so that for vehicles with modular bag charges, you could vary the number of chargesused by reselecting the same shell type to cycle through charge numbers. It’d also be nice to pair it with giving SPH’s a scout drone so they can do indirect fire shenanigans like the BMP-2M/3’s can
where is that hull came from?
not sure, but it isn’t from NE due to APU hatch’s shape and hull number 62.
VIDAR, Type 99, PLZ05, but still no PzH 2000
Why?
because f**k germany, thats why
Its getting really freaking obnoxious how the Pzh2000 keeps getting passed up while other nations get every SPH under the sun…
That being said, Im also wildly annoyed at the fact every NATO/Western SPH is given M107 (literally primarily used as a “practice shell” because its so cheap and has such subpar lethality), PARTICULARLY for proxy shells despite the fact stuff like L15A1 can use stuff like proxy fuzes. All western SPH’s in-game would become improve notably if gaijin didnt gimp them with a shell effectively designed around the 1930s…
In fact, M107 is SO bad, its inferior to some 105mm shells!
(I LOATHE the M107 shell and I already know its trash design will pollute the pzh2000’s shell types in WT when its eventually added in 100 years)
