Eh, I mean, it’s not only the USSR that could get it. Really, everyone captured or had a Panzer IV of some variant; there are even the Post-War Syrian variants.
I won’t lie; Tiger 131 would make sense as a UK Premium. The only real reason it’s a particularly noteworthy vehicle is that it was captured and eventually preserved. The US and Soviet versions are less well-known, so I’d be fine with Gaijin skipping them.
There is some logic in the UK getting a Panther, to be fair; the REME Panthers were a thing after all. As for the US, I mean, It’s definitely a possibility, could even add the Panther II with the G turret that the US built.
Don’t forget Italy captured a few; as for the US one, I’d be interested. After all, the two that the US acquired do have neat stories. The first one, which was a T-34/76 M1941, was captured by Germany and then Captured by the US during the Normandy Campaign, and it’s also one of the oldest preserved T-34s. The other one was a T-34/85 captured during the Korean War.
The US did build variants of the Firefly. Heck, there was even a M4A3-based one. Post-war, the US also built a M4A2-based Firefly in the 1950s.
These already exist in-game, anyway.
I mean, why not? The British Army predominantly used it, just considering it was an export variant.
We have the Soviet modified Matilda with the F-96 76mm gun it’s called “MK-II “Matilda”” so we don’t have the version that Britain exported with the 57 yet, when it comes to the Valentine, we have the MK-IX, but not the previous ones.
EDIT: Should’ve responded in one message, sorry about that.
This is a museum mockup, it was never intended to be an actual military vehicle. The turret originally came from the 17 pdr testing tank which used an M4A3 (75) W hull.
The US did use 2 Firefly VCs in Italy in Fifth Army. Later in 1944, they requested the British to manufacture 100 M4A3 and M4 based fireflies, these wouldn’t see any combat due to the war ending.
Yeah, that’s a valid concern. Don’t get me wrong. I just think that considering that the only reason the thing is famous is that it was captured, it would make sense as a UK Premium. But I mean, it could also work as a German Premium. Maybe add a Pre-Order bonus commemorating its capture and a unique title or something. Kind of a fun fact as well: Bovington, as well as a few historians, have tried to track down the crew of 131 over the years, and everyone who has tried has been told by various German veteran organizations that the crew of 131 to this day are still considered Personae non gratae.
No worries.
Aye, that’s true; I suppose the better one to add would be the original M4A3 (75) W with the turret. That said I somewhat recall that the US Army Armor and Cavalry Collection (the part of the US Army that owns the vehicle) alluded to the thing technically being operational and able to move around under its own power, which might make for a neat event thing if true
M4A4 748 (a) ≠ Tiger/Panther. In that case, we should get a German Pershing tank(**). Additionally, if a M4A4 748 (a) is put into the game, then your side should only receive (if at all) something of equivalence such as a 7.5 cm KwK 42 L/70 armed Panzer IV chassis, the only ones that I can think of are:
to which Gaijin will probably say no to both…
() The Roer River Pershing knocked out by hits from a German 150 mm gun
() The Niehl Pershing knocked out by a Nashorn
(**) The Pershing Fireball knocked out at Elsdorf by a Tiger I
