no it wouldn’t, the PL-8B has like 36% more thrust than the base PL-8, it would be far superior to stuff like the R-73 and be much much faster than the Python 4 since it has double the thrust within the same booster duration, it would be better than every single IR missile in the game and be actually on par with the Python 4, just faster with less G pull

Python 4 has double if not more the energy then the pl8 or python 3
It has the derby engine just more drag and im pretty sure better irccm too
it does not have double the energy, at least not in the current state in the files
Mb it has double the burn time not energy
It do have almost the same energy as r27et so very impressive
in which case then the PL-8B would have slightly more energy than the Python 4, just without the 50G pull, both using 4 element seekers they should have very similar IRCCM, the PL-8B has the same booster burn time as the Python 4, but with double the thrust, the sustainer however is weaker so as long as it’s within the 3 second window the PL-8B goes much faster than the Python 4

I’m comparing the real life thrust for the PL-8B to the current in game stats of the Python 4 as datamined.

All the domestic production of PL-8B improved was the 4-element IIR seeker, there is no mention of a drastically improved seeker capable of keeping up with a missile like the python 4 (notoriously powerful improvement over the Python-3, only second in power to Python 5, ASRAAM and MICA IR)
Maybe you are getting confused with a variant of the PL-9 or PL-10?

Besides the PL-8B bleeds far too much of it’s energy due to it’s poorly optimised aerodynamic body and lack of reduced drag control surfaces.
Python 4 on the other hand is extremely sleek and makes use of a rolling frame lift body design combined with 3 sets of control surfaces (including frontal canards) to boost maneuverability massively

Sadly in the game the python 4 currently have a lot of drag like r77 but i guess its fair if gaijin will give us this missile with the f18
Currently it will be exclusive to Israel and Japan (Thailand), no other operators in game use it or need it currently

Also if there is some chance that brazil gripen will added to the italian so we would have a gripen with p4 and derbys

Potentially, i’d rather we get it sooner rather than later on the Ra’am and Barak II but who knows with gaijin

the PL 8B doesnt have IIR
it has a 4 element seeker just like the magic 2
the PL 10 is the one that has the IIR seeker
and the PL 9 depending on the variant will have the same seeker as the TY 90
Even less excuse for gaijin not to add it to the J-10A since the PL-5Eii is kinda lacking despite it’s strengths
