Python 4

in game r27et has about 8 to 10km effective range if lunch from rear aspect low altitude and at around 7km and up in altitude it has 20km to 25km from rear aspect and python 4 in the files has max range of 5 to 6km at low altitude rear aspect and at 7km altitude range is from 7 to 13km rear aspect so its safe to say only in low altitude python 4 has 60% range of r27et mostly because of 20 second battery and other aspect but adding python 4 would just be 1 step up but not as drastic as people might think its no aim9x no mica ir and no r74m its good but not next generation

it’s a shame really because it’s a good stop gap between next gen missiles like the Python 5 AIM9X and others but it’s not on the same level so even if they add it alongside those missiles it’ll end up overshadowed by the likes of MICA ir IRIST ASRAAM AAM5 etc

If python 4 didn’t have iog I would say it could’ve been added but since it does have iog it should only be added with 5th gen missiles which would make it redundant with python 5 existing

i really liked the idea of adding it to Kfir c10 it would make it more unique and fun and a max of 2 python 4 wouldn’t break the game but yeah i understand the fear of un nerfed python 4 seeker the performance of it isn’t the problem the seeker head is because they said them wont Nerf it or something like that

yeah, but still, it doesn’t have DL so it isn’t so useful specially since it’s an IR missile does not radar so the DL benefit would be more than if it was radar one

python 5 doesnt have dl either, neither do asraam or iris-t or aim9x block 1. DL isn’t that special tbh

mica IR and i think aam5b ? has it the thing is with DL you can lock target trying use cover behind mountain or cover and manually loft missile above that cover to let missile drop on top of target is main strength of DL really specially IR missile with good irccm unlike radr missile they wont have hard time picking lock since they only need IR signature

IOG without datalink its literally useless its better not to have it honestly, it could be added literally in december and it would be perfectly balanced, soo forget about the idea of this missile breaking something because thats not gonna happen the crown of being the most toxic and disruptive thing in top tier is for the rafale and it would stay like this until jets at the level of the rafale gets added to the game.

I wonder how all those over shoulder shots work without DL

It means you can loal.

the Python-4 does not have LOAL IRL just for you to know, the only thing it have is a half sphere capability which provides a 180 degree coverage thanks to the big gimbal limit 90 degrees to the right, 90 degrees to the left, the missile have a memory onboard that saves the information of the target like “to where the target did go” and things like that. keep in mind that the Python-4 seeker shares literally the same technology you can find in the FIM-92C to be more specific which is a missile from the mid 80s, early 90s casually the tests for the Python-4 seeker started around 1986-87 and by 1990 to 1992 the firsts firing tests were conducted and by 1994 the first batch of Python-4s rolled out from the factory.

For in-game purposes, it’s not the same is it? There are missiles ingame that have IOG but do not have LOAL like the FB-10.

I’m not sure for the fb-10a, but the other ir missiles with iog like the 9x, iris-t and py5 can loal

Yeah, no LOAL capability which comes with Python 5

yeah i meant in game, although if the fb10 doesnt have loal ig thats true that iog != loal

it can be designated using radar, irst or another plane using dl for shots past 90.
seeker itself doesn’t have to see the target for missile to be launched

the Python-5 can “LOAL” not because of the IOG kizvy it can LOAL thanks to the high gimbal limit it have, the IOG like it is right now in game its literally useless, the seeker its literally doing all of the heavy work and the funny part is that %90 of the time the Python-5 does not track shxt because the IOG is messing its guidance, soo if you ask me i prefer to not have IOG and just use directly the brute force that the seeker can give.
