But the ADTW shouldn’t be the exact same as the TT one you need to grind for.

What about putting it at 13.3 and giving it XAAM-4’s
There are so many options for the F-2A ADTW
I think the ADTW is the XF-2A 63-0001 and XF-2A 63-0002 (both skins are in game) after they where re-designated and kept in the test wing to use for trials of new technologies for the production F-2As
There are photos of the first 2 seater prototype XF-2B-63-0003 (now F-2B 63-8101) flying with both AAM-4 and AAM-5, but there is no way to say if their integration was a later adaption as they are test beds for exactly those kinds of upgrades.
It’s also a little murky if the radar upgrade from J/APG-1 to J/APG-2 was to allow the use of ARH missiles, or just to improve it in general and to get the full rage capabilities from the AAM-4Bs, as J-APG-1 apparently had quite a few issues.

That said the ADTWs in game are using J/APG-2 so they are obviously a later version of the aircraft.

That’s plausible since iirc they pull less, but still, we don’t need more Fox-3 slingers at 13.3, especially with AESA radar like the F-2…
I’m not the best person to ask about the specifics of the XAAM-4, ask @Xeno_quaza, that guy’s the GOAT of JASDF information.

Its annoying cause IRL they are the exact same of the spec introduced, since gaijin chose to implement a generic modernization of the 63-8502 airframe, instead of the specific modification that was originally suggested, which did actually have unique features. Although since most of them would fall under EW I suppose they wouldn’t have been added anyways, but still.

I still think it would’ve just been better to add the XF-2A as opposed to the ADTW.
But since the ADTW is just the F-2A with a different skin and no AAM-4s… I’m not surprised Gaijin took the easy route.

Given that they are still test aircraft, isn’t it possible that they could be more advanced than the TT variants?
Seems waste full to put them in like this when their most advanced modifications could be added to the TT, especially given Japan is pretty much at the end of it’s domestic options.
Although I guess they could still rename them and change the radar back to J/APG1 with out hurting their current abilities too much.
The ADTW in game already has the J/APG-2 radar
They’re functionally the same. They both even could get the AAM-5, as while it wasn’t cleared for service on the F-2 until very recently (due to needing some software development to counteract wing tip flex), its technical compatibility was added with the same AMC upgrade that gave it the AAM-4.
The only difference if we wanted to assume the ADTW was newer then the base AMC spec, would be IRL they did get some datalink integration upgrades recently, but nothing that would change anything in game.

Ok, I just thought I heard about stuff like testing AAM-4s on the outer pylons and a few other things like that that didn’t make it to the production models, also the ongoing stories about the HMS, but I haven’t ever seen anything that proves that it was more than they thought about it, looked at the price tag and said no thanks.
