One has better AA capability but is very slow, and has near 0 AT capability, and the other has really good AT capability, really good AA capability, and is decently fast.
That sounds like a decent tradeoff.
But it isn’t a sidegrade to the M247.
We don’t uptier SPAA for being mediocre at killing tanks around here

The M247 can overpressure many tanks. Including T-72s frontally
M247 is a sleeper. People seriously claim it cant defend itself which to me feels like theyve never used it. Dont get me wrong sometimes you can’t get the kill but ive had matches where ive nuked MBT’s with the HE-VT shell. Its a very fun vehicle, just wish it was a smidge faster in acceleration and top speed.

Honestly I still prefer it up till I get to the LAV AD.
I’m amazed it isn’t 9.3 but yet again a lot of those 8.3 - 9.7 spaa are under tiered.
Quite a few 9.3 and 9.7 CAS outrange it with AGM62A or AGM65A Which explains why its 9.0
yeah and for some reason it cant intercept munnitions anymore
Ive noticed some HE-VT shells just dont work, it may be server lag

In terms of total penetration sure. In total damage? Meh. They’re about the same.
But the Gepard are under br’d too
Fox got its turret traverse halved, it has no stab, and its fire rate is dog water.
I actively avoid it and the scim.
BTW those are cherry picked videos, its the exact same as when people cherry picked videos to say the BVM or SU25 were indestructible.

They weren’t cherry picked. That was just random clips. Hell, I’ve loved the sturmermorser almost hitting me directly, but I chopped that up to a server error.
The fox may have slower turret traverse now, and less fire rate, but it’s pen is out of this world.
The pen is not out of this world, at all.
The pen is good thats it, the fire rates poor, the gun handling is poor due to lack of a stab, its only fast on certain terrains and ofc its got half its turret traverse.
It was arbitrarily nerfed on the premise of it shares a turret system with the Scorpion and another tank however its been proven the bug report that nerfed it had the gear ration system misunderstood, So here we are another british piece of equipment thats nerfed n left.

Yet one has been nerfed and the other runs rampant.
Bigger maps solves the light tank issue, but Gaijin want CQB maps and then get surprised when light fast small vehicles with good fire power dominate…

And the XM-800T is going to 8.3, which I’d also consider a nerf.
Overall, both ruined my experience of playing lightly armoured tanks in that BR range, and I don’t like them for that reason. They make playing a light tank without an autocannon much more annoying than it should be, because they have superior gun handling, speed, and fire rate compared to actual light tanks.
