(READ CAREFULLY) (edit: THOSE WHO HAVE NOT PLAYED AT LEAST 100 BATTLES IN NAVAL REALISTIC BATTLE, DO NOT WRITE A COMMENT OR VOTE) (This is my proposal from the 2024 RU Forum.)
Dear comrades! Welcome back.
Having analyzed your previous comments, I have developed new ideas for improving naval combat in War Thunder. One of the main changes I propose is a reworking of the naval tech tree, merging the two Small and Large Fleets tabs into one, and dividing the ships into branches. At rank II, I propose introducing cruisers and battleships, with the higher the battle rating (BR), the more modern and powerful these ships should be. At rank I, frigates or barges could replace battleships and cruisers. However, I must admit, balancing rank I is a challenging task. In my opinion, the destroyer branch should start with destroyers, so players can immediately immerse themselves in the atmosphere of naval battles.
Here are some examples:
But you might argue, “How can destroyers and torpedo boats stand up to battleships? They’ll tear those light ships apart with a single hit!” So, what about the idea of enlarging and modernizing maps?
I suggest considering changes to map sizes and their structure. For example, at the first ranks, maps are small, only 60-70 square kilometers, with numerous islands and choke points, making maneuvering difficult for large ships. As rank increases, maps also increase in size, reaching their maximum at rank 4 – up to 700 square kilometers. (Rank 1: 60-70 square kilometers, Rank 2: 200-250 square kilometers, Rank 3: 300-400 square kilometers, Rank 4: 700 square kilometers)
Along with this, I propose revising the respawn system to ensure more balanced gameplay. We will divide respawns into two types: Boats + Destroyers and Cruisers + Battleships, or Boats, Destroyers + Cruisers, and Battleships. For example, boats can spawn within 5 kilometers of a point, respawning among islands. Destroyers will be able to respawn 10 kilometers from the point, also among islands. Cruisers will have a respawn point 15 kilometers from the point, and battleships 20 kilometers. Naturally, specific values may vary depending on rank. Such a system will help create a more balanced environment for all ship classes and ensure interesting and dynamic battles.
Here are some example maps:
Rank 1

Rank 2 and higher

In addition to changes to the map structure, I would like to see changes to the shell dispersion, as currently, even at a range of 11 kilometers, 5 out of 8 shells hit the target. Also, the Rangefinder (or whatever it’s called) adjusts too quickly, and even on WWI battleships, the second salvo hits the target directly, which complicates gameplay. I would like to see a wider shell dispersion and a much slower adjustment speed for battleships and slightly slower for cruisers.
I would also like to note that the AA defenses and secondary guns on ships are too accurate, making attacking unnecessarily difficult. It’s proposed to reduce their effectiveness, as even at a range of 2 kilometers, the gunners can accurately hit a fighter. Therefore, it’s necessary to reduce their effectiveness and reduce their range from 5 kilometers to 3 kilometers. This will also help boats more effectively deal with larger ships.
These changes will make naval battles more dynamic, interesting, and attractive to newcomers.
How do you like my new ideas? Please rate them and give them lots of hearts so the developers will finally get around to improving naval battles.
