José María Bravo was born in Madrid on April 8, 1917. He learned French and German and participated in European exchanges during his youth. He studied Exact Sciences at the University of Madrid, and at the start of the Spanish Civil War, he joined the Air Force. After brief training in the Soviet Union, he became a fighter pilot in the conflict, participating in numerous battles and rising to the rank of captain.
During the war, Bravo completed 1,120 combat missions and received numerous awards, including the Order of the Red Banner. After the war, he remained in the Soviet Union, working in education, particularly in teaching Spanish. He returned to Spain in 1960 and worked in various companies until his retirement in 1984.
José María Bravo passed away in Madrid on December 26, 2009. His life reflects a unique experience that combined dedication to his country with an extensive international presence, first as a soldier and later as an educator and professional, bridging cultural and national boundaries throughout his career.
