As of right now, aircrafts with a combination of TV/IR guided munition and a targeting pod have a two ways of using seeker/optics.
Either cycle multiple through multiple views (toggle view) or using a separate key bind to access the targeting pod or optical seaker.
The benefits of using toggle view is that it’s very universal. It can work with aircraft carrying only tv ordnance, or a targeting pod, or both. But it comes at a cost of being cumbersome to use.
The benefits having a keybinds to access the optical seeker and targeting optics is that it is quick to use but it comes at the cost of using two convenient keybinds.
What I propose is a priority sighting keybind which prioritizes certain view modes over others depending on what type of aircraft you play or what gamemode you’re on (ab,rb,sim). This will be rules
For example, the F16C carrying Mavericks and Paveways. If you use toggle view, there are 5 view modes you need to cycle through. But with Priority sighting, you can cycle through the view modes you care about. Here is a visual representation:
V is the key being used to cycle
Now let’s do a bomber:
Wouldn’t this be hard to apply this to every plane and ever harder for different loadouts? No, if an aircraft has a list of available view modes and if there exists a rule to make it priotiry sighting, then it will apply that rule to to that aircraft. If not it will revert back to toggle view
Here is a visual representation:
By default priority sighting should be turned off by default because with how fast this game is growing new mechanics, vehicles, etc, it is best not to overwhelm the player base.
