Early pre/WW1 style ships have no realistic defense against air planes, especially in arcade mode where planes can reload their armement mid air within a minute.
The ones that has defense, feature an amazing arsenal of 2x Maxim machine guns.
We can see a pattern that these ships only featured anti air armament since their WW2 refitting
The rare few ships that do feature them (1938), has a only decent armament of 12.7 machine guns.

This is correct. Aircraft werent as much of a concern until WW2.
Just stick with your team and don’t over extend
Or even better squad up with a few friends and coordinate so they bring something with AA and escort you around
Yep, someone playing a dedicated picket ship is actually quite fun…Dont even need to be in a squad for that, I do it in random public matches sometimes, just focus on being in a good spot to defend everyone else…
all the way up to the point where no one spawns CAS :D
