It has been already answered in this thread. Current max bluewater BR is 8.7 so Jean Bart isn’t that.
Current top tier France is 8.3. By this fact, Jean Bart is top tier.
However, I will drop the subject since forum rules demand it.
What about PlayStation? We can’t pre order to get the exclusive content…
The approach of giving certain nations top tier premiums and them being fine based solely upon technicalities is starting to become apparent. Vehicles like the Clickbait for example are barely any weaker than the 12.7 Abrams, but is not top tier just because its 12.0 instead. It could very easily be 12.7. Probably should be.
Likewise the Jean Bart falls into the same boat (pun intended) it could very easily be a 8.7 battleship. probably would be if not for the OP nature of paper ships like Soyuz.
The devs as a whole need to really work on refining their definition of top tier to mean something other than “maximum BR only” because the truth is, you have several top tier vehicles as premiums already and they are ruining the game systematically
otherwise next we’ll have a Rafale with only 6x MICA EM at 14.3, or another Su-30 premium that is again only marginally weaker than the Su-30SM2 at 14.3 and it being “fine” because its not actually at 14.7
She could not be when South Dakota stands at 8.3
I’ve been wondering this ever since I heard this ship was coming out: why did they make the Jambal a Premium class? Shouldn’t that be the Clemenceau?
We get a lovely little two week grace period post update for those wanting bonuses, been like that iirc since either 2013 or was it a later addition in 2015? (I can’t remember).
You will get the bonuses if you purchase the pack in the first 2 weeks from its release on PlayStation Store, as always.
I forgot about that, nice to ear
This is very promising i remember in a mobile game that jean bart was nicknamed suffren same battleship class but with torpedoes? this game actually has a good point for the france tech tree as i am currently grinding bought that ship as the pre order also dev is in any history timeline that a ship like jean bart had torps the game is called naval frontline ww2 ocean military so many fiction ships like god gaijin needs a raise in realism i care for ships as i like naval air meh ground oh my goodness thats a nightmare for me but naval does need a little tweak for example the modeling is great but it does need some attention to detail like falling mast explosions like what makes ships split in half
Given what it actually took to sink Yamato compared to what it takes to sink it in game calling it “historically accurate” is a bit of a stretch IMO. I get most BBs are less survivable then their IRL counterparts for gameplay reasons but the state of Yamato is ridiculous.
But regardless it still disproves Smins assertion that Jean Bart will be worse than the TT ships due to it having a few hundred less crew.
Yeah that doesn’t help, but it’s rarely an issue thanks to the ammo detonations.
that is also a major issue, Yamato and Musashi where designed for engagement ranges of over 36km, while in game you cannot accurately range find over 20km and typically spawn within 15kms or so of the enemy.
not to mention the game modes force you to cap points that involve engagements of 10km or less
I’m talking about the bit of an explosion vaporizing the crew. The magazine detonation of turret 2 killed almost everyone on board.
The current state of Yamato and Musashi overall in warthunder is an insult of the highest order.
Oh, ok, yeah, ammo detonations are obviously highly catastrophic events on ships, I am not trying to claim otherwise (HMS Hood and HMS Barham being iconic examples of that). My point is more how inconsistent the survivability of ships is, it’s not that Yamato dies to magazine detonations that is the issue (although some ships seem to survive multiple detonations), it’s how frequent those detonations are, one hit to the #2 turret and Yamato is gone, mean while other ships you start fire after fire in their ammo and nothing.
Hell the Shitski Soybeans barbetts just shrug off Yamatos guns at 6000m
Edit: Seriously someone flagged this?? They seriously need to start banning these false flagger, this is getting ridiculous.
Just so you know; Yamato instantly dies with only 15 shells left in the frontal magazine

15 shells between two turrets.
I can’t imagine how bad it is for Richelieu and Clemenceau.
which happened after she had already rolled over btw it was not what caused her to sink
Yeah, ive noticed this too, and its not even necessarily from ship to ship. I can be in the same ship, with the same round, fighting the same ship, and one time it will die to the first ammo rack, the next it will be after the second or even third that it finally goes down.
I’m gonna make a call right now :
New top tier ship planned was Suffren Frigate (4 Exocet + 48 Masurca) and was delayed for development schedule reasons, meaning it will probably come in September
My exact thoughts. Lets see if they will be playable or just AI assets
