Pre-Order: F-14D Super Tomcat

Yeah I did a little research after that post and they have the same engines as the F-14B from what I can find… It’s a waste of money

Genuinely wonder if we’ll get an official response regarding the backlash about this in particular. I don’t think I’ve seen this much backlash for a premium before.

I mean, Smin & Co avoiding this discussion is very telling

I’ll give them the benefit that its the weekend currently.

I was talking about the alternate motor for the pheonix, not about the tomcat.

To be fair 14D is something like 900 kg heavier. That should be noticable when you mirror the configuration in fuel and armament.
However , because F110 engines have more than enough thrust you wouldn’t really notice on first view.
This thing does affect how a dogfight between them would go , though.
In a sustain B would win. However, if you start from supersonic speed 14D will bleed speed/energy faster than 14B , that means it can easily catch you on sleep and pull a gun or missile.
BUT and that’s the kicker , F-14D had DFCS …that means you could go all out every time. In 14B you still need “hands” .

So , yes…
It’s a tone heavier isn’t the whole story. But i don’t know how these things show and at what quality in game . In RL though, i’d most likely bet on 14D…because you just go “limit” from the get go. No loosing time to “feel” or “calculate” . You can just be agressive.
And that goes with the sensors. With IR you can use clouds or if it is night you have full tracking even if the you close the radar not not trigger RWR etc. With TCS …you have limitations.
So, in practical scenarios in 14D you’ll have tech compensating for more weight.

Now in game…
I don’t know. It’s the GJ factor …
You’ll probably lose from a B or they would be…completely identical. (both solutions not even close to reality/realism and how those planes would behave…)

Every F-14 variant has DFCS in later service, including A model

The F-14B and F-14D have the same engine thrust the dev stream was just wrong

Did we will have TT variant?

For now - no)

[Cry]

I didn’t talk about engine thrust being more on 14D. I’m saying the 14D should be heavier but the F110 engines are powerful enough that you shouldn’t notice the difference on first sight.
About the dev stream , yes they were wrong, fortunately.

Yeah the D didn’t have the cooling systems for the AIM-54A and C it could only use the AIM-54C+

I guess it’s time for someone to think and prove at least some better weaponry is needed (physically, cuz i cant cool my missile by tranferring my thoughts about it in noosphere) cuz my main issue is lack of 54C+ on a thing. If it would be there probably i would even buy it for like 5000 RUB, but now it looks like a Su-30 food without its even basic armament (taking into account the low acceleration on AIM-54 as a whole, I guess, better ECCM capabilities would be a fair trade against much faster missiles at least).

If they had given the AIM-9M and the AIM-7P to the F-14D, I would have bought it instantly. But since that’s not the case, I won’t be buying it. Considering how much Gaijin loves money, they could be making way more if they just gave the F-14D the missiles it’s actually supposed to carry…

I mean it’s the bare minimum cuz it’s not even a balance factor, F-14D couldn’t use earlier phoenixes at all, so it’s more about paper v reality at the point of adding 54C+

exactly it was never about realism or accuracy

like fr why dont they want my Money??
If they give it the Aim-9M and Aim-7P i buy it

The AI strikes back lmao

I mean it’s true but the main issue imo with a lot of recent packs that gaijin just makes that they sell less just by doing some promotion and balancing shenanigans with vehicles added. IMO 120s on even 13.7 F-14 would be an instant buy for many people. I mean it’s up to gaijin but like this thread may be a good feedback and an example for the future additions.
