And how does it differ? None of the Tomcats have ‘top-level combat performance’, measured in BR.
They dont have top level performance, but sub-par performance compared to their peers.

Seems that gaijin are too hard focused on it being a premium that no compromise for better equipment is considered as to not risk having issue with its loadouts and thats causing a lot of issues

It is technically better than its peers if you are only on about the other tomcats
However it is worse than every other plane at the br besides maybe the 2nd/3rd gen amraam slingers

Most disappointing news I have read regarding the F-14D.
I was expecting AIM-7P, AIM-9M, and AIM-54C+… not a premium F-14B with a fancier radar.

I really don’t care about premium F-14 but, why D model when we have ways better solutions for premium?
F-14A with 1998 configuration is basically F-14B with TF30s.
I guess it would be good premium instead F-14D.

I think the entire playerbase agrees the F-14 series are actually the worst performing aircraft for their BRs in game rn, and i can guarantee you adding a copy paste at the same BR as the premium SU30s isnt gonna help

Yet another premium, this time of an aircraft who should not be one under any circumstances. Anyone keeping tally of the premium to researchable ratio?
The F-14B already came standard with AIM-9M missiles, just as it did in real life, whereas the Super Tomcat in War Thunder still uses AIM-9L missiles, which were carried by later versions of the F-14A… And on top of that, all of this is only available in the premium version…
Unless the F-14A is set to 12.3 (it would be very powerful at that level), the F-14B to 12.7, and the F-14D to 13.0 in realistic battles, but I really doubt that will happen; if the F-14D (the Gaijin version with AIM-9L) ends up at the same BR as the SU-30 Premium, it will be a scandal.

F-14d can’t even use the aim-7p datalink feature there’s no point in asking for the 7p, it would be essentially the same

The rule for premiums applies only to the highest BRs of the game, anything below that is irrelevant.

Yeah I’m not happy about the F-14D not having it’s upgraded ordinance. Very not happy.
Do i want the plane? yes.
Do I honestly want to spend EIGHTY dollars on a plane whose only genuine improvement (that i will get extensive use out of) over my current favorite American fighter in the game is the radar?

Does the F-14D need the AIM-120? I wouldn’t say that. The new radar COMBINED with AIM-54C+ and the AIM-7Ps would fill most, if not the entire gap that the F-14B and in some measure, even the F-14A IRIAF all have with their contemporaries.
I’m extremely disappointed in Gaijin, more than ever.
The fact nothing’s been done with the reports on the AIM-54C’s current performance and the lack of the AIM-54C+, AIM-7P, and the AIM-9M on the F-14D… it’s disgusting.
I was excited for the F-14D. I’d been waiting for the plane for years, and I’ve been a player since 2015. Only to be spit in the face with the bare minimum, and a premium to boot. This isn’t worth eighty dollars to me.

What my statements here do not cover, is my opinion on the choice of including the F-14D as a premium.
I’m witnessing the argument of it’s choice as a premium being used to undersell it’s armament and capabilities to hold true to “promises” to the community that were made to keep premium top tier aircraft out of the game and then broken by being redefined as not allowing “Top-Performing” premiums to be added to the game.
I believe that promise was broken too. And you know what would solve this problem? not selling the F-14D as a premium.
The F-14D is not a “side-grade”, it is a direct SUCCESSOR to the F-14B with the digital avionics instead of analogue, the new radar, the AIM-54C+ which could also be used on the F-14B and the rest of the modernized Tomcat fleet.
It should be treated as such. If you put the F-14D in the tech tree between the F/A-18C Late and the F/A-18E, it would make a decent amount of sense given that’s around the historical period of her service.
On top of that you give the F-14D her full kit and she can be competitive.
I don’t want another 13.0 Tomcat, and definitely not a premium one. I want a Tomcat that can punch as high as the aircraft designed to rival or counter her, not this… waste of funding.

This thing needs AMRAAM and an upgraded Phoenix. With the 13.3 Su-30s in the game there is zero excuse not to. I have every other US prem aircraft in ranks 7-8 and I wont buy this without more upgrades. IRAF already is stronger in every way.

You could also just directly say you want to milk the F14 Cash Cow.
Simplest way to make everyone happy would have been to just have both a Premium and a TT version.

Its only not top rank because gaijin are so hellbent on selling it for money that they will not compromise to add anything that may increase its ability to be even a little fun to play
