I’m aware. I was a noob at the time in my premium American jet. I didn’t realise I needed to equip a keybind for flares, so I thought Gaijin hated Xbox (I was right, but in a different way), so I would just twirl my joysticks around to attempt the Russian Bell to avoid the 9Ls. That’s how I also learnt about wing rips.
R-73s are always a hit or miss with me. Either they will follow you to the ends of the Earth or are useless beyond belief. Magic 2s are the last good missile (rear aspect only though).

Magic 2s are the same seeker system in game as the R73s
I was under the impression the gate width was different in game for the magic 2s tbh. I might be wrong though
I know this is unnecessary nerd talk but:
isn’t the japanese AAM-3 basically just a better Magic 2 ? There are way more reliable Fox 2 AAM. The chinese also have some good options. And the R 73 might be hit or miss sometimes, but in exchange you get the only long range IR AAM with the R 27T/ET on most soviet/russian panes.
So it all kinda pans out in the end, as long as you don’t only have R 73 or AIM 9M lol
it may be slightly larger however the system is the same idea, so they can be used in very similar situation.
I mean the R27T/ET is piss poor mate, it’s extremely gimicky rather than effective.
Fun fact! The AAM-3 outranges the R-27T.
In a large majority of launch conditions, the AAM-3 is limited by seeker range not kinematic range. From front aspect you can somewhat reliably secure 11km shots with it.

I guess I get irritated with with certain aircraft like anyone else. China’s premium Su-30 gets R-77’s and Pl-12’s at 13.3. The other aircraft with the pl-12s are 13.7. (J10a, J11b, J10c). The Kfir c.10 got bumped up in BR to 13.3 with only four Derby missiles. Now you have a premium f14 that’s coming in with subpar missiles that’s going to be tore up by Russian Jets with better missiles. The way the f-14 is set up is for long range bvr . The aim 54c is not a good mid or close range missile . Now maybe they’re changing that but we’ll have to see . So you’ll have to use aim 7ms against other aircraft with aim 120s, pl-12s, r-77s, etc …The playground is just not equal. I’m not talking about low tier aircraft or tanks. I’m talking about missile slingers at 13 and above battle rating. And the only complaint about tanks I have is the bmpt 72. As for China, they have no real top-tier competitive aircraft. Maybe the f-16v will change that, but in my opinion the j10c and j15t are terrible aircraft. Especially in the current meta. The Nerf to the pl-12s killed off China’s top-tier aircraft yet the r77-1 is the best? The pl12 at 13.3 is dangerous but at 14.3 it’s crap. I wish they would just either give all aircraft what they were actually armed with or throw all the unicorn s*** for all the nations in. Not just Russia. Israel’s best aircraft is an F-16C or F-15 which both get dominated by typhoons, rafales, Su-30s… And I’m speaking only about their aircraft cuz I have not played their ground lineup.

Yes we all want the Su30 to be moved up to 13.7 as well. as it makes no sense where it is right now.
the J10A and j11B J10C are not bad for their BRs though.
Kfir C.10 got bumped up cause it was absolutely punishing the lower BRs xd

The F14 as I said already is coming out in a sorry state man, we’re on the same page don’t worry.

of course it is not fair mate, same as you’ve got F18s at 12.3 fighting mig21s which have no radar missiles that can’t be just turned out of.
the F14D should definitely get AIm7Ps or even 120s to make it competitive.
China doesn’t have top tier competitive air craft? J15T and J10C would like to talk, they’re 14.3 and 14.7 and are competitive.

Isreal I’m still working on their air but I’ve done alright at 12.3 - 13.3 with the Netz premium VS the su30 spam.

The Netz (mod) should get its Derby missiles like so many wanted. I’m ok with it being moved up.
As for the F-14D airframe would do just fine at 13.3br provided it is given a decent loadout. The IRAF F-14 is proof of this.
Let’s not forget the F2 ADTW sits at 13.0br.
This is all just my opinion.
I (obviously) think we need a tech tree F-14D

And btw the F2 ADTW players are playing them bad tbh, they dont know they have Jdam/Er better optioms if you know how to use them and no just do Air to air things and more Air to Ground things because is likely the F-16 but with aesa at 13.0 is a good one.

I would argue it’s even great at air-to-air provided you don’t play it on a steam deck like I do 90% of the time.
