Pre-Order: F-14D Super Tomcat

We are talking about long-range missiles
But have we considered whether the opposing side even has a comparable long-range capability at all

The result is a shortage of players, even though the aircraft is capable of fighting effectively, as some players are still unable to fully utilize its performance in combat

We play, and we encounter both skilled and unskilled players

my personal opinion, I don’t want either side to have an advantage over the other. I want both sides to be able to enjoy the game in a balanced way, with different tactics and playstyles

Pulse-Doppler AIm-54 13.3, Aim-120 13.7 is that what you want?

Has anyone seen this in the test drive?

It’s a mix of missiles you’ve got an AIM-120, an AIM-7M and an AIM-54 on the pylon

I get that point, and I agree balance matters. I don’t want one side to have a free advantage either.

My issue is more that the historical and balance arguments keep getting mixed together. If the F-14D had access to a later/improved AIM-54C configuration, then the historical capability should be acknowledged. Whether it should be added at the current BR, limited in quantity, or paired with a BR increase is a separate balance discussion.

Also, long-range capability does not automatically mean dominance. Phoenix-style missiles create pressure, but they are not the same as modern close/mid-range Fox-3s, and aware players can defend against them. Its just WAY too easy to defend them currently, partly because their flight profile is wrong, speed is wrong and seeker is wrong.

I understand, because we’re talking about a realistic game, but it’s still not reality

I still believe that in the future we will eventually get what we should have, but right now is simply not the right time

Well, I think in the end it comes down to the developers’ decisions on how to handle things. Whether the simulator they create will have a player base or not is ultimately their responsibility, and they have to accept the risks that come with it

Because I believe we can definitely make good use of what we have to play it effectively

For me, fun gameplay is not about having an advantage over other players, but about being able to use aircraft with equal or even inferior performance and still fight effectively and with respect, In the future, we will still be able to receive new additions when the time is right

They only comparing them because some people witch im one of those think the f14D should have access to Aim120A,aim9m,aim7p,aim54c+ at 13.3 since gajin added the su30mk2/mkk to 13.3 with 10 missiles both fox3/fox 2 irccm

Actually the f14 is a medium to long range interceptor that can also dogfight if needed to so it can be a front line fighter and is proven in real life

Where?

Not really, we would have to see how much it changes the plane performance on practice and I am not a big fan of the 120s on it to be honest, even though I would not mind.

I agree, no 120’s because It would probably make it less playable than having properly implemented long range AIM-54s

That’s correct, but the Su-30 is a multirole aircraft
It only has medium- to long-range air-to-air missiles, but no true ultra-long-range capability

We also need to consider the mission roles of each aircraft model in order to properly integrate and balance different players’ playstyles

And I am one of those who simply want to own it, not because of its performance, but because it’s an aircraft I like and one that holds personal memories

Right now, if you play with the F14 and go up against R77s, AIM-120’s, Sure you get to launch first but it feels like you still get hit before your missiles get to the target because the top speed and energy retention are so nerfed.

As for me, I think the plane is fine 13.0 with Fox-3 all-aspect radar, AIM-9M, a good airframe, and a nice premium. I’d prefer it to be a TT vehicle with better missiles, maybye

Neither was a dogfight; both were on routine missions, and both were shot down by missiles.

Yeah about the same, perfect scenario to me is just putting the AIM-54C+ and the flight model to their most accurate. The 120s are cool but it remove some of the personality of the plane.

How so? F14B already against aim120A,r77,pl12 etc and aim54c+ even with 25 g won’t help you

and it’ll put the plane in a tight spot no matter how good the airframe is, it’ll still struggle to be competitive
