A new issue is arising with the new ARMs combined with MITL missiles being present on helis, with the extreme ranges of the KH31s, and helis, which were already involnverable, due to DIRCM and zero rotor blade radar return, now have indirect lock after launch MITL missiles able to be thrown over hills by helis which are now obscured by terrain, making SACLOS SAMs which were their only counter before useless, SPAAs now have a dilemma, of never actually seeing the aircraft themselves, because of the two aforementioned scenarios, which will quickly become an issue.
now this raises the question, what is now the purpose of top tier SPAAs? Because if it now isn’t killing aircraft themselves, why are we rewarded so little for intercepting munitions?
With roles shifting so fast with so little balancing in response, If this continues I believe we may see an absolute disaster of CAS dominance at top tier, making it an even more unplayable mess.
With the kh31s Ramjet this sadly isnt really much of a problem for it.
40km for helis, I feel like this is a tad far, even then this still doesn’t resolve the underlying issue of the inderict-fire entirely out of the line of sight of SPAAs, SPAAs would still be forced to do missile interception simulator with rewards being way too low for doing only that.
The role of SPAAs currently at top tier is already 90% intercepting munitions. Most top tier AAs use radar guided missiles, and as long as Gaijin decides to keep multipathing around to screw them over, aircraft are given an easy out as all it takes is firing off their munitions and immediately dipping to the deck.
Heli’s on the other hand can’t even be touched by IR missiles nor Radar outside of the rare lucky hit because of how inaccurately good DIRCM performs and they produce too little of a radar signature atm for radar missiles to properly guide in. MITL just makes it even worse as DIRCM heli’s can now avoid the only thing that countered them, SACLOS AAs.
As it stands now we’ve already been in a SPAA disaster, CAS aircraft/heli’s have been given too many options that make AA extremely easy to dodge and counter. ARMs and MITL are just more tools for them to use, without addressing the problems AA have currently it will just continue to get worse and Gaijin clearly doesn’t care.
1-This might sound like im saying its russian bias. But I suggest putting carryable limit on kh31 until heavy sams comes. Until then i let su30 use mach 3 capable arms without limits. Like agm 88, alarm or similar.
2-increasing ammo crate’s missile count. I think it will help with running out off missiles in dangerous situations
3-adding early warning radars around the map and linking them to the player controlled spaa with few limitations like it only displays transparent untargetable targets(small dots without showing what aircraft it is)on the radar then if main spaa radar detects it. It will show up normally and targetable.
Another thing i think would be great is making intercepting swarms of missiles more user friendly, as the spaa radar screen has its shortcomings, one way this could be done is doing something similar to original TWS like the f14 used to have (obviously with modern NCTR TOO), with all the TWS contacts visible in third person at once, rather than just one you selected at any given time, also changing the selection of the target to the one you are looking at in third person would help too.
Some spaa’s already have that rn (pantsir and 625 etc) but it’s really bugged, it also locks onto friendlies. Community Bug Reporting System. That’s only for actual track radars though
This would be an extension of this, those spaas are kinda annoying with selection in third person, as it’s almost randomised with the select target keybind, looking at them or maybe looking at them and pressing a button would be way better.
I can imagine a10c flying several minutes on map like poland or eastern europe just to get killed by any fnf spaa seeing it through trees or even ground.
You have to look at it from gaijins perspective pantsir can carry 96 missiles with replenish so that’s not an issue and that change would be unnecessary
No? There is already an spaa that can carry 96 missiles so there’s a counter to it already not directly at least you can just intercept all the missiles coming at you because you have 96 of them
It would only make sense to add something to kinda compete with that amount
You misunderstood the post, this isnt even really about the SPAA themselves dying, its the SPAA never seeing aircrafts anymore… therefore only shooting down missiles while not gaining any rp or sl.
If everyone gonna play Russia, how fun is that? Then they will start complaining about how strong their stuff is when they themselves are gonna
Have to face it.
I’d be amazed if MITL for helicopters is anything more than a meme, “b-b-b-b-b-b-but it can sit behind cover-”: guiding 1 missile for >10 seconds is a total waste of time not mention making missile interception that much easier, the only thing that finally made Helis good at top tier was LDIRCM and the ability to spam F+F and rearm fast.
