I really need to understand why this tank still have apds ammo since it never touched that type of round irl.
DM63 20mm APDS-T is manufactured by Rheinmetall for use by Bundeswehr 20mm platforms such as Wiesel and Marder, and is not in the US inventory.
The only two rounds assigned to the M139 20mm autocannon by the US Army are the M601 API-T (treated as HVAP-T in-game) and the M594 HEI-T.
So tell me gaijin if you like 2 much of realism in tanks why the xm800t still have his dm63?

in fairness to the XM800T it would be literally useless with only HVAP.
marder and ratel 20 main guns are worthless beyond track and barrel deleting. ive killed maybe 3 non SPAA targets with the gun in 401 matches of the ratel 20, the rest is MILAN spam or main gun aircraft kills.
XM800T would end up at 5.3 without APDS, even then other than its mobility it would be pretty trash
itd probably still be 6.3 considering the r3 is 6.0 and not even fully stabilised
America mains are very very bad at the game. as bad as german mains but the vehicles arent as much of a handhold. It would 1000% be lower than a R3

This is not a game about reenacting conflicts, this is a simulator about having fun.
Realism > historical reenactment.

XM800T having DM63 is realistic.
XM800T having DM63 is not part of physical history.
I’ve currently been playing it, and without DM63, it has been the least fun thing I’ve ever played.
With its stock ammo, I’ve failed to pen the side of the BMP, and all around makes me not want to play WT in the state I have it in currently.
just take tracks, scout them, then run away
thats how i use the ratel when i have no milans left. its how i used the fox and scimitar before APDS so it shouldnt be too bad with 1050rpm from the gun
Hated it stock. Buts it’s so much fun to use with apds, although Dow tiers are scary since everything’s too heavily armoured
Swap the ‘T’ for tracks in XM800 for ‘W’ wheels
and you essentially got the American R3 T20-HS (which I’m dying to see added to the game)
Would probably be a 10.0+ BR vehicle if it comes with DM63 APDS in Caernarvon’s eyes, though. XD
Technical compatibility is the reason for this. Cannot wait for meteor on American F-35 and AIM-9X, AIM-260 on every other F-35 :D
