They stated the same for Germany too. I guess they are just using the “Gr4” as the base-line for the upgraded Tornado. As the main thread for the Tornado is focused at the British ones, that does make semi-sense
Britains Tech additions are probably gunna be more like this:

Torando Gr4 with Brimstones is going to be a very potent aircraft in A2G and thus require a high BR. To compensate, its going to need very good AAMs in the form of ASRAAM, with only 2x AAM hardpoints and limited intergration, ASRAAM is going to be good, but not OP, especially when its facing off against aircraft like the Typhoon, Rafale, F-15, etc etc.
I think 2024 is going to be about setting up for Gen 5 IR missiles like the Aim-9X, ASRAAM, Iris-T, etc. I think they are going to use the R-27ET as the foundation for long range IR Missile coding ahead of the Gen 5s
Other honourable mentions for 2024 would be Red Top and SRAAM overhauls which would breed new life into 5 lower-tier jets. Though none would be “top tier” unless they added SRAAM to stuff like the Tornados (which would be kinda fun)

- Harrier Gr9A (Gen 3 T-Pod and Brimstones) (CAS)
- Typhoon F2 (direct upgrade for the prototype DA2, Possibly with ASRAAM.) (CAP)
- Typhoon FGR4 (Multi-role Typhoon) (Multi)
- F35B (assuming 5th gens come at all) (CAS)
- More Commonwealth additions (CF-18, Cheetah, etc etc)
Everything 4th Gen that will carry AMRAAMs or other Active radar homing missiles will easily clap it out of the sky. The F-4F ICE would only be META if it was WAY lower in BR than other FOX-3 carriers
F-4F ICE has equal survivability to all 4th gens against AMRAAMs.
This isn’t IRCCM missiles that rely on high countermeasure counts for survival.
Or SARHs that rely most on the quality of the host radar.

Yeah, that would be good too. Though I hope they dont spend the entire year just backfilling. Though anything at 11.3 is still gunna suck vs the 12.3s. So Id rather not having anything there till we get decompression.
Perhaps nothing at 11.3 but the T545, Gnat (either of them mk.1 or mk.2), upgraded hunters (f.4, p.1109b, p.1121), just something good so that i can grind vehicles in a decent fighter and not a shoehorned attack platform.
Yeah, a BAE Hawk somewhere would be good fun too. I do need to remember that we’ll probably get some “old-tier” stuff too

Back to the topic at hand, F-18 is basically confirmed, as well as an upgraded SU-27 of some sort and maybe the Mig-29M, Rafale pretty much must come even if its the earliest one with a lower performance. We may see a slightly gimped gripen E to come with the Rafale and Typhoon. I’d expect some US supersonic trainers too, and the chinese JF-17 or an early-mid range J-10.

Gripen E carries an AESA radar with some insane range, it’s the end of the line for Swedish air defense, I doubt we’ll see it next year.

I think Gripen E will come with F-16 Block 70.
After F-2A is added where they can mess with AESA simulation code without annoying more than me & my fellow Japanese aircraft users.
It uses a PS-05/A Mk.4 mounting so I wouldn’t put it past them to give it the PS-05/A Mk.4 when its first added and do something like they did with the FGR phantoms and gradually increase its capability (e.g EW suite, better AMRAAM/METEOR, AESA radar).
