Oh yeah you have to pick your battles it is very much configured for low level strikes and not dogfighting
the Alison engine is underpowered.
I love the mustang. It’s neither underpowered, nor slow.
You however need MEC.
With AEC, you over-heat on 100% just existing.
Due to meredith effect, you can full-send 90% or even 100% rads. The radiator design offsets the drag through thrust.
Take off at 100% PP, reduce to 90% once you cross 250 km/h and you can feel free to camp it.
I usually go and reduce it to 85% when I exceed 450 km/h IAS and drop it down to 75% when I’m extending away or speeding at a 550 or higher and not in a climb.
You can hit 600+ km/h and stay there for a very, very long time. Just make sure to adjust prop-pitch back up to 85 and 90 if you engage in a fight where you need lower-speed energy generation.
You also need more fuel than you’d expect. She guzzles gas like no tomorrow on perma-WEP.
With full-real at least, you’re also capable of some nasty instantenous turn that if timed well and done appropriately can get you onto enemy sixes in lead turns and then stick to them like glue as they cannot dive away and your flaps can give you some decent ability to transition from lag into pulling lead to blast your target. Climbing away is also a no-go with how accurate the hispanos are.
At least at my skill level though, it’s kinda hard to reverse planes on you so having diving room is nice.
Now, the RB comment does warrant a concession: The RB Instructor has no idea how to turn well with the mustang and applies far too much rudder far too aggressively for small movements of the mouse cursor. This bleeds a lot of precious you’d otherwise preserve.
This I find to be a pretty general “american prop” problem - mismanagement of the rudder in mouse aim. American planes feel far more joyful to fly in full-real controls (and consequently - in GSB/ASB) and precise control over what the plane is doing.
However, I do beleive with effort one can compensate for the rudder issues so I maintain my disagreement that you should avoid it in realistic physics game modes.
I may be biased though- P-51/Mustang Mk Ia is one of my more regularly enjoyed planes in ASB. And yes, RB is different but SB but the physics are the same.
You used to have to use MEC on lots of WW2 aircraft (Spitfires to engage the second gear for the Supercharger at high altitudes and Tempest to open and close Radiators to stop it overheating and killing the engine.
I did think the instructor now at least in Air RB mode are managing the engine performance without the need for MEC
no :^)
ur engine die now
driving at mach stupid w/ the toyota to massacre CAS with pilot snipes has to be a personal favourite. being able to drive at top speed and fire 4 missiles is amazing
- Scouting ability is really helpful to the team
Scouting is insanely underrated, scouted so much and got one kill in the Type 89 and managed to spawn JAS39C for 166 SP (4x Mavericks) and spawn a second after trading w/ other CAS for 332SP
¬ had to scout like 26 people + 11 intelligence
Players dont like to admit but it really is the most useful thing you can do.
being in a position to scout a whole team wins games :)
especially when im not playing very well, just watching tanks from a distance like im Sir David Attenborough
Thats why I prefer the Stormer to the ADATS scouting, smoke grenades, insane thermals and you can kill light tanks/ifvs
Managing to curve a Ki-148 missile into a ships ammorack at the last second cause original target died
I love it when it doesnt
dont play air AB any more its to boring and stressful, and AIR SIM is not my Gametype
i use the mustang only in TANK RB, in this Role, its wunderful tank destroyer, in air to air combat, its important who attacks you, a me109 f or yak1, yak 3 or zeros its difficult to outturn them…and i only attack them if i have advantage in speed and altitude
Killed 10 tanks in RB with the KV-122…reload time 23 seconds…but it still worked
with the prem t.-34 gvtbr
yes i got it now, i think i spended 20 mil SL for this coupon
bad i canot sell it, but on the market place it cost 73 euros
Positive thing:
I finally got a night battle
It was a curb-stomp kinda match (in our favor) and my fat challenger was so slow I couldnt get any of the glory. But still. After months of waiting. Night battle :)
at a certain point Night Battles become a bit more common. Sometimes I get a bunch in a row, its a bit inconsistent.
Obviously getting night battles when playing Stock though </3
What a round! 18 players were taken out, but my team was losing, so I had to sacrifice myself and drop the bomb.
Almost 500,000 SL! RB is so awesome.
:)
