This thread is focused on breaking that old trope.
guess the game just broke him ¯_(ツ)_/¯
It’s not a “trope” its what the forum is literally designed from the ground up to be for. Both positive AND negative discussion.
Well, this thread is about the positives, but your want to bring up the negative IS the trope…
Not to mention, you’re a bit late to the party.
The user was being negative in their comments towards other users. I wouldn’t have replied to it otherwise.
lmfao if youre so paper thin that someone saying the playerbase suffers from skill issue (which it does) is enough to earn a reaction, maybe MP games arent for ya bud.
not what I said but ok, maybe a self reflection moment for you
The ability to create your very own missions the way you want is pretty amazing . You want to see how 40 Abrams do against 40 t-80 BVMs you can. Want to do tests against a handful of tanks you regularly face often in certain scenarios you can. So many things with not so many limitations. Just unlocked a vehicle and want to see how it does with any loadout it has without having them unlocked yet, you can etc.
cute.
The game has a lot of vehicles, detailed damage models, and it looks good. Thats about it.
crewed the I225 and the yak 3U and my god, these two are so much fun, especially the I225, i love this goofy ass plane
Positive things about the game? For me, there are quite a few (I won’t write about the vehicles additions because they are standardly pretty decent but about the quality of the game):
- Air simulator gamemode is very good and its gamemode where I can get a lot of fun and epic moments (I recommend it to everyone). Of course it’s very far from perfect and requires a lot of work, but the general impression is actually good.
- Now the recent addition of item recycling has been pretty good - I can finally get useful stuff by getting rid of items I would never use.
- The lower RP requirements for vehicles in the folders was also a very nice addition.
- Another useful thing is ability moving slots in the hangar as needed.
There will be more things that are good in the game, but I can’t remember everything right now.
the sale is here and i bought 2 new vehicles
one plane, a wunderful tank destroyer
and the super hellcat
one advice, never try the mustang in arb. its atrociously underpowered and slow.
It’s 3.7 so doesnt face much, and 4x 20mms are no joke
i mean yeah the guns are nice, but if youre fighting something like a ki 44? yeah gameover
Oh yeah you have to pick your battles it is very much configured for low level strikes and not dogfighting
the Alison engine is underpowered.
I love the mustang. It’s neither underpowered, nor slow.
You however need MEC.
With AEC, you over-heat on 100% just existing.
Due to meredith effect, you can full-send 90% or even 100% rads. The radiator design offsets the drag through thrust.
Take off at 100% PP, reduce to 90% once you cross 250 km/h and you can feel free to camp it.
I usually go and reduce it to 85% when I exceed 450 km/h IAS and drop it down to 75% when I’m extending away or speeding at a 550 or higher and not in a climb.
You can hit 600+ km/h and stay there for a very, very long time. Just make sure to adjust prop-pitch back up to 85 and 90 if you engage in a fight where you need lower-speed energy generation.
You also need more fuel than you’d expect. She guzzles gas like no tomorrow on perma-WEP.
With full-real at least, you’re also capable of some nasty instantenous turn that if timed well and done appropriately can get you onto enemy sixes in lead turns and then stick to them like glue as they cannot dive away and your flaps can give you some decent ability to transition from lag into pulling lead to blast your target. Climbing away is also a no-go with how accurate the hispanos are.
At least at my skill level though, it’s kinda hard to reverse planes on you so having diving room is nice.
Now, the RB comment does warrant a concession: The RB Instructor has no idea how to turn well with the mustang and applies far too much rudder far too aggressively for small movements of the mouse cursor. This bleeds a lot of precious you’d otherwise preserve.
This I find to be a pretty general “american prop” problem - mismanagement of the rudder in mouse aim. American planes feel far more joyful to fly in full-real controls (and consequently - in GSB/ASB) and precise control over what the plane is doing.
However, I do beleive with effort one can compensate for the rudder issues so I maintain my disagreement that you should avoid it in realistic physics game modes.
I may be biased though- P-51/Mustang Mk Ia is one of my more regularly enjoyed planes in ASB. And yes, RB is different but SB but the physics are the same.
You used to have to use MEC on lots of WW2 aircraft (Spitfires to engage the second gear for the Supercharger at high altitudes and Tempest to open and close Radiators to stop it overheating and killing the engine.
I did think the instructor now at least in Air RB mode are managing the engine performance without the need for MEC
