It’s almost impossible for magic 2 to hit sub .8 km because of the proxy.
And then like sub 1.5 km front aspect
Event at 1000kph launches I have trouble getting it to work against someone that is doing hard manouvers at 0.5-1km away in front of me while rear aspect, not even off bore. I treat them like higher range aim9Js
no, explodes too late and can be notched accidentally in a dogfight
no, MICA is the best missile overall, for pure dogfighting the R-73 is better
pure dogfighting, like duel 1v1 yeah its better than mica due to proxy and the fact you gotta radar lock
but say dogfighting in arb its better than 73
okay not really relevant when you’re the one who brought it up in a mig29 thread
what is this 3 updates ago? I’ve had them do 180s and hit
not sure why you’re telling stuff I already know tbh and it’s not almost guaranteed I’ve personally flared 6 in a row, the aim9m has the fabled iog you love so much so I’d of thought you’d like it more, gate width irrcm is inherently worse and easier to defeat.
No, this last update. I did not even experience them in live matches in the previous iterations.
You are taking things out of context. I talked about IOG+DL being very useful in SARHs against the ones that don’t have it. IOG in gatewidth missiles would not have much of an effect because the missile either is tracking your jet or switches to a flare or something else.
I prefer gatewidth missiles because they are more reliable in my experience.
But in a fox3 joust where both parties get closer and closer, you might get a good opportunity to launch an AIM-9M when the enemy is notching a missile at close range.
Or if you constantly force the enemy with a notch, you can probably close on them and get an easy kill with AIM-9M.
So in fox3 environment, the tracking suspension type might prove more useful than gatewidth for those very reasons.
But If I am limited to an IR loadout, the gatewidth type is better in my opinion, also more fun because it suits an aggressive playstyle, where the AIM-9M is better suited for more passive engagements, like top down ambushes.
We were talking about SRAAMs
nvm then
SRAAMS was this update
LMAO can immediately ignore anything you said after this
NVM all this. Is the mig-29 comparable or better than the f-16?
depends on which f-16 and which mig-29. since this thread is talking about 9.13, Ill compare it to its direct counterpart at 12.7, the f-16aj, in which its worse than in every way other than having a better radar, having hms, higher top speed and much better radar missiles.
So what your saying is that the mig-29 platform is just better, but the f-16 has gotten more advanced upgrades which gives it the edge.
mig-29 platform is not bad, the f-16aj that’s its counter part is a fictional plane that never existed lol. Mig-29 9.13 is better from range, while f-16aj is better when dogfighting while having better ir missiles.
Mig-29 as a pure bvr platform is definitely better than the f-16aj at bvr
I know, truth hurts sometimes, not for everyone
the only thing better on the r-24 compared to r-27 is its iog, which barely even matters because r27 gets datalink as well
