MiG-29 (9-13) is in a very edgy spot in the game, being nerfed since it was implemented to the game and hasn’t been changed and it is sitting at a very high BR.
MiG-29 (9-13) is being forced to play with the clumsy R-60Ms which are moderate in BRs lower than 12.0, making it rely on its only 2 good missiles (R-27ER). This Fulcrum is facing against planes with fat payload like Su-27s, F-15s, Grippens, Mirage 2000s plus FOX-3s (There are too many planes between 13.0 - 13.7 with FOX-3 to name them all here to make the point) and even IR missiles with IRCCM in lower BRs like “Matra 550 Magic 2” on Mirage F1s.
I can’t see to be fair that MiG-29 (9-13) keep sitting at 12.7 with that horrendous payload of 4xR-60M & 2xR-27ER, it needs to get its deserved R-73s.
MiG-29 (9-13) was supposed to be added with R-73 just as it was shown on its trailer.
I mean I understand why it had to be removed or delayed when released, it would have been an unstopable force, but I thought maybe after some time GAIJIN would return his R-73s when they add competitive missiles to the rest of the countries (AIM-9M, Matra 550 Magic 2, RB 74(M), PL-8B) now all these missiles competitive enough for R-73 are in the game, Where is the R-73 for the MiG-29 (9-13)?
MiG-29 (9-13) can’t keep at that BR, so here are 2 solutions.
If you are gonna keep MiG-29 (9-13) at 12.7: Add its R-73.
If you are gonna keep MiG-29 (9-13) with R-60M: Lower its BR to 12.0
I’ve said it a thousand times before and I’ll say it again…
Remove R-27ER from every 12.7 MiG-29
Add R-73 to every 12.7 MiG-29
RESTRICT R-73 to ONLY 4 in quantity so that people cannot use 6x R-73 loadout
Doing all of the above means the ideal loadout for MiG-29 at 12.7 becomes 4x R73 and 2x R-27R or 2x R-27T, and with this loadout and with the FM the way it is, I don’t see how this would be overperforming for 12.7. We do need decompression though because it would be on the higher end of 12.7 along with the Mirage 2KCs5
They are, they are also very avoidable if the target isn’t bad at the game, meaning if someone DOES avoid one, you have effectively lost 50% of your firepower in a single whiff
Not really. Mirage 2K has the same issue where it has two “primary” missiles that are high PK for their BR, but the M2K also has VERY servicable backup missiles where as the MIG29 does not.
F-16ADF has worse primary missiles (2x sparrow) but they will still kill often enough, and its backup is far better (4x 9L)
R-73s are a huge buff that will probably push it up in BR.
With R-73s and R-27Rs, it’s both too good for 12.7 (better than the F-16s, and imagine the complaining that other IRCCM 4th gens are at 13.0), but not good enough for 13.0 (like the Mig-29G being a mid 13.0 and objectively worse than the Su-27 at the same BR).
It has 2 of the worst radar missiles for 12.7, they are very unreliable unless you are third partying someone.
9L are not “far better”, they are often better but not by a big margin and not in every situation. The 4xr60m + 2xr27er is preferable, but that’s just my opinion, although the F-16 is the better platform, so it balances it.
Yep, in that the competition is literally only 3 missiles, 1 of them is the R27ER, and the matra 530D is slightly worse than the 7M… not that it is bad itself. The 530D still kills anybody who does not notch/go cold/multipath etc.
Not been my experience, no.
They very much are. Range is massively higher enabling far more shots in this long range meta.
MiG29 does not have good FM for 12.7. If you mean the R27ER then my suggestion is to start reading instead of just smacking the keyboard because we’ve been talking for a long while now how having 2 great missiles still means you have TWO great missiles
In range and thats about it. At short range where you have more chance to avoid flares, the r60 is better since it pulls harder and accelerates faster.
If I’m following someone’s 6, id rather have the r60m, else id rather have the 9L for sneaky long range shots, that sums it.
