I don’t think that’s the main reason India was considered as a subtree for UK; India used a lot of British equipment prior to warming relations with USSR/Russia such as the Centurion/Vickers export tanks(Vijyanta)/Tempests/Vampire/Hunter/Gnat and so much more I don’t care to list but I will cap it off with them buying HMS Hercules, an Aircraft Carrier which used Sea Hawks initially and eventually replaced them with Sea Harriers.
Gaijin added the Vijyanta Mk.I and jumped straight to just adding Russian vehicles to the UK tree for some reason.
My thoughts is that unique indian vehicles should be added to Britain, but modified export variants should usually go somewhere else. And domestic British/Indian vehicles should always have priority over Soviet stuff.
It’s pure laziness, look how they butchered the BeNeLux subtree for another example.
I don’t care about India getting independence again and becoming the 11th nation of WT. If Indian players want it.
If it happens, it would be great that we receive another subtree like ANZAC or Canada as compensation.
But, become a subtree of Israel or Japan (asean) instead of British?
Nah. It shouldn’t happen.
Also, If we keep India as our subtree, direct soviet C&P like T-72 or Su-7 need to have lower priority than domestic options like Arjun.
It is essential.
Vehicle upgrades and weapons, without anything else, are always shaky connection at best, and one that gets brought up regularly, and i will never understand why people do that.
TAM 2IP uses israeli addon armor, and TAM 2C uses israeli FCS. None of them are in israeli tree.
Vilkas, Cv90 Mk IV, the last french Tiger helicopter, the last italian Mangusta helicopter all use Spikes. They are not in israeli tree.
If israel sold Merkavas to India, or India was producing them under license, then it would be another matter entirely, but as it stands, just having israeli weapons does not justify india sub-tree in israel.
but hey.
its better than that one bloke suggesting india being subtree of china because of BRICS.
Having made it a subtree was a mistake. They should’ve just made each vehicle go to its country of origin (Bison to Russia, Vijayanta to UK, etc) since India buys from everyone but is not unique enough to warrant its own tree, but now we have to worry about the UK getting an SU-30MKI…
imma be honest, india doesnt have enough unique aircraft (that are non C&P) to have its own separate tree, from a quick search there is like 5/6 unique aircraft that india could get (excluding c&p) so no, those aircraft would be better to be in the british TT
