The funny thing is, on the official StatShark Discord someone actually asked this question, because that person was wondering why Naval stats for March-April looks so poor, and one of the StatShark developers answered this:
These stats are updated during the first week of each month:
How often are Global Stats Updated?
Global stats are always updated in the first week of each month, the exact day varies from month to month.
This is how the updates works, again quote from one of the StatShark devs:
Basically, they named it “Feb-march”, because this data also includes a few days from March (and exclude a few days from February). But you can threat them as February stats.
The last update was on April 5 (March-April stats). Next week we should see April-May stats, these stats will be interesting.
According to StatShark, the number of games played on popular vessels dropped by 2-3 times. Yes, about 50-66% less battles on these vessels than in the previous month (with old Naval Arcade aiming system), that’s a huge difference. The question is whether the player base will decline even further in the coming months. I suspect we will have even less players playing Naval in April, but we will see very soon. Just wait for the April-May stats, which will be released in the first week of May.
The majority of this event actually took part in March, so it’s mostly included in March-April stats.
It still doesn’t make sense to say that players who played the last Naval event used e.g. LS 3 boat. That would be a terrible way to progress in the event ;).
But it is true that War Thunder is losing players globally. I can see this in my squadron as well. We always had 20k Squadron RP every 3 days, but nowadays we have problems with reaching required squadron activity. There are also significantly fewer new players wanting to join the squadron. You can also notice that the number of online players is far from record-breaking.
Im just saying that after event was a patch, and after event there is always playerbase drop can you measure what causing it more, the boycott of some players who don’t like the changes or just absents of activities, in other hand there was a patch which bring some attention to new vehicles so we will see numbers after SS publish them .
That’s why I said that April-May stats will be so interesting. These will be the first statistics with a full month following the change in Naval Arcade aiming. The “Hornet’s Sting” major update was released on March 18, so the March-April stats also include data from players that used the old Naval Arcade aiming system (from March 5 to March 18, which is actually 2 weeks).
I definitely saw a huge reduction in the number of players after the Naval Arcade aiming system was changed. Every battle I have played after the update had a lot of AI bots, which wasn’t the case before this change. But I am EU/CIS player, maybe in different regions and time zones it looked differently (maybe that’s why some players don’t see the difference, I don’t know).
I stopped playing Naval Arcade because of this change. I just don’t like the new aiming system in Naval Arcade, and I’m not a fan of Naval Realistic. The good thing is that I have at least started playing other games. Previously I only played War Thunder (Naval Arcade was my main game mode), and I just didn’t have time to play anything else. I also did not purchase the current Battle Pass in War Thunder. This will be the first BP I will miss since BPs were introduced to the game in 2020.
