With the F-14D now being added as a premium pack and currently serving as the only way to play the F-14D, I believe we should also receive a researchable F-14D in the US aviation tech tree, perhaps with a different livery.
This poll is not intended to cancel or replace the premium F-14D, but rather to provide an additional option for players.
Why am I asking for this? In the past, Gaijin marketed and released the JA37DI F21 as the only variant of the Saab 37 Viggen with access to ARH missiles. The Swedish community was unhappy with this decision and advocated for the addition of a researchable JA37DI with the same ARH missile capability. Eventually, Gaijin conceded and added the JA37DI to the Swedish tech tree.
I believe we can ask for the same treatment with the F-14D, so we can have a researchable tech-tree version with access to AIM-9M, AIM-7P (possibly), and AIM-54C+ missiles to represent a meaningful upgrade over the F-14B.
I recommend renaming the premium F-14D to F-14D (VF-2), as its default livery is based on that squadron. Then, a standard researchable counterpart, named F-14D, could be added to the tech tree with a different squadron livery, such as VF-31.
Alternatively, the tech-tree aircraft could be the F-14D(R) with the “Christine” VF-31 livery. This aircraft holds historical significance as the longest-serving Tomcat, having originally been built as an F-14A before later being rebuilt into an F-14D.
I have linked to the official statement where they had added JA37DI in the past, so you know I do not mislead them.
