Needed is yes a exaggeration, but the point is the F/A-18 C early against stuff like the Su-27, Su-33, MiG-29G, etc. Can and will just flare away and run away from the F/A-18C, treating like like a A-10. And 9Ms on the C early hornet would be historically accurate. I personally prefer gameplay over accuracy but that is also the case. Its going to be really annoying when you are playing the hornet and all the enemy has to do is just out speed you, and you cant even do anything because you don’t have IRCCM missiles. There is also the case where you will be facing IRCCM missiles AND AMRAAMS a lot while lacking them yourself. For the same reason the MiG-29 is not very desirable to play right now is the same reason the C early hornet wont be desirable to play. You will face a lot of IRCCM missiles and Fox 3s while not even having simple R-73s or AIM-9Ms. For comparison playing the MiG-29 is just not very fun at all at the moment because you face things you cant really counter, like an F-15 with 200+ flares/chaff vs your R-60M that loves flares and don’t even say the the ER will save because the F-15 will just AMRAAM you. Without 9Ms the F/A-18C early will suffer the same fate where it just gets shit on by everything else because it has a non completive missile loadout compared to other jets around the bracket. THE F/A-18 C EARLY IS GOING TO FACE IRCCM MISSILES AND FOX 3S A LOT WITHOUT HAVING ETHEIR, SO AT THE VERY LEAST GIVE IT SOME 9Ms.
If it was going to be moved up to 13.0 it should it get AIM-120As or something

if the game was historically accurate the MICA would be completely hilarious its not, its designed to be balanced within reason (keeping Blueside WR >65% like it has been since at least the grippen and f16c were meta) you’re bitching about historical accuracy to a player who plays the mig-29 and m2kd-rmv whos ATA missile loadouts are made up 9m’s in the numbers the f18c can bring would deserve a 13.3 BR minimum and that wouldn’t be fun to play as or against

unfortunately, the US’s HMD is the JHMCS which was first used in 2003, designed to be used in conjunction with the AIM-9X.
There isn’t much point of it without HOBS missiles, and it would be a step too far I think for a jet that is clearly meant to be 1989-1991
