Policing, Riot, and Anti-Terror Equipment

Question Concerning Equipment from Policing and Anti-terror for Infantry Mode

With the recent infantry testing, I wanted to raise a question about the potential role of policing and counter-terror equipment in infantry mode, and whether there’s a place for it within War Thunder’s gameplay style. This includes gear typically used by law enforcement or specialized units, such as riot shields, breaching tools, less-than-lethal options (flashbangs, tear gas), surveillance tools, and protective equipment.

There are also some options that could realistically fit into gameplay. For example, police-style body armor is often different from military armor sometimes heavier or more focused on specific threats which could introduce interesting trade-offs. Certain specialized firearms, like the New Nambu M60, could represent niche or region-specific equipment. On the vehicle side, there are platforms like the ROOK or various SWAT armored trucks, which could act as protected transport or support vehicles in urban-focused scenarios.

Another interesting angle is the variety of equipment across different countries and manufacturers. A lot of policing and counter-terror gear is produced by private companies, meaning there’s a wide range of designs, capabilities, and styles worldwide. This could translate into a diverse set of equipment options, from shields and armor to tools and vehicles, all with slightly different strengths and weaknesses. There is also the issue of some post war nations like Japan and Germany not having a true army but special police like the boarder police and for Japan the National Police Reserve which had bazookas FYI so we got bazooka police but was legally a police force. Italy also had a version of this but less so. This could allow more WW2 weapons in if Gaijin is not interested in having WW2 mode for infantry as these forces used a mix of WW2 surplus from there nations or from the victorious allies. This could allow for interesting and rare uniforms.

The idea wouldn’t be to shift the game away from its military focus, but to explore whether some of these tools could enhance close-quarters gameplay, urban combat, and squad-based tactics. At the same time, balance and tone would be important making sure everything fits within War Thunder’s combined arms environment. So would a SWAT / Riot squad work or would a T-90 make them into lunch meat to easily and such a build wont work.

Would WarThunder infantry have a place for Policing Equipment?
  • YES ✅🥰
  • NO 💢😡💢
  • Maybe 💭🤔

Curious to hear what others think should elements from policing and counter-terror units be included where they make sense, or should infantry mode stay strictly focused on military-issued equipment? What equipment would you like to see in game if so remember there is a lot of police only equipment out there!
