What’s good about “bot squad” ? i kinda play games for PVP aspect
I think it is still PvP since the bots are lead by a player.
What i think is good that Bots, unlike real players, will come with you and stick with the squad and not just lone wolf everything. Also since everyone in your squad carries a different loadout it gives you more options to deal with threads “on the way” without having to respawn with a different kit. This also makes the infantry more competitive with the vehicle aspect of the game as you can encounter helicopters and tanks.
Another aspect would be that there is a bunch more stuff going on. Since there are bots running around the game feels more alive. Muh Emerson and all.
Overall i really don’t want to play just another FPS, i want something unique.
Especially when Enlisted Bots / AI are already absolute garbage lol
In my opinion bot squads are necessary in order to avoid a completely miserable experience.
The people asking for the removal of bots don’t understand how painful a shooter like this can be with just one life. Let’s take battlefield for example. you have infinite nr of spawns ( almost, depending on the gametype ) because you will get shot randomly, from a guy, 500 meters away, sniping. If that shot sends you to the hangar , now that is a game dead on arrival. It will only be played by snipers who will eventually get tired of camping each other.
And for the people saying bot squad is not proper PVP, I will argue that bot squad is the epitome of PVP.
In usual gunfights with only 1 life, anything can decide the duel. Maybe the guy was camping, maybe he was lucky, 1000 things can happen.
However, with bot squads, that duel becomes a chess duel. You suddenly have the option to outskill your oponent, either by straight up shooting better, or by utilizing your bots in such a way to get an advantage. This mechanic takes out the camping and luck out of the equation, only the most capable player will be able to win the same gun fight multiple times in a row.
And while others are saying : If you want squads go play enlisted, you should know that war thunder infantry already offers a better experience than enlisted ( in some categories ) . The bot control is a lot more precise, the hit registration, pretty much everything from vehicles to how guns feel. And let’s not forget enlisted is stuck in WW2, while this game will likely explore everything after.
And as others said, the squad mechanic is an underutilized mechanic in a shooter game which provides a fresh take on the genre. Instead of just dying and that’s it, you are never out of action until you run out of spawns.

“Neutralizing” a bot is equal to putting sleep a “player”, which would be fair if bots were adequate but be honest, the moment bots will be good, there will be a Skynet, but in reality they are just dumb meat that you need to get through to kill a player.
Like be real, do you enjoy bombing bases? For me it is the same, teamplay wise i think it is impossible to play like a team with such lobbies bcs amount of players is too low for a map
Also is it just me or is movement speed is 90% or smth, running animation seems like he is in Agartha with lowered gravity.
Optimization seems to be meh, with lots of stuttering, so maybe they can’t yet raise player count in lobbies, and then make AR \ RB different with Squad or no Squad mechanics
Sorry, man. But how exactly are these “Bots” different from other “FPS” genres, essentially it is the same as pressing “Q” and ordering some “order from 1-4” in other games, and i don’t see a revolution here…

The “chess” duel you are talking about is either “Putting enough meat to kill enemy player first” or “Hiding your extra meat, before rushing in”, also this mechanic does not take out Camping, as you stated it makes ‘fps’ campy when there is limited spawn (could have gotten with PUBG as example, yes dont pretend that “extraction” shooters aren’t camping sims) Limiting amount of spawn inherently makes match a campfest.
What are the “chess” moves of controlling bots?
Just like in Enlisted, you just can’t expect the bots to do stuff for you. They have one purpose, and that is to give you multiple lives before having to walk back to where you were previously. However, in order to keep them alive you have to take the layout of the map into consideration, if enemies are nearby, and if you plan to be aggressive or not. All of these factors influence where, how and if you are going to park your bots.
And by chess duel, I don’t mean overwhelming your enemy with meat. As you said , bots are slow to react, the time to kill is very low, you would just sacrifice your whole squad to kill just one guy from the nearby enemy squad. Bots can be used in the following ways. :

Sentry : you are afraid of one buy come behind you in the building, you order one of the bots in the hallway to act like a sentry. Him dying is your cue that you and the rest of the bots are in imminent danger.

live bait : let’s say you know there is a guy holding a corner on a street. You send one bot forward to draw his fire, while going right behind your bot. That will usually force the enemy to shoot, allowing you to get the upper hand in the confrontation even tho he was the one holding the angle. Losing just 1 bot to gain the position advantage is a good trade.

placing bots on different level of a building. Switching between them is way faster than you going from window to window. This allows you to cover a greater portion of the map.
Ofc there are even more things you can do, but going back to the chess duel, even without doing anything fancy with your bots and just keeping them behind, let’s say you are about to fight s guy in one of the small gardens on the map.
First duel, you both meet in the middle, one shoots faster than the other, only 1 winner. The winner has to make a decision now. Rush forward in order to catch the other player switching to another bot and kill his whole squad , or adopt a defensive stance knowing your enemy is about to hurry back to the place he died seeking revenge.
Continuing this example, let’s just assume the enemy manages to kill you now, and you are the one who needs to use another bot. You now know where he is coming from, knowing the map allows you to guess what angle of approach will give you the best results in an engagement.
And I for one refuse to play extraction shooters for the same reason : camp fest.
But as far as I know , PUBG doesn’t have tanks with thermal or Helis. My whole point is that in war thunder Infantry, you are just too fragile in order to hope to survive even getting to a point with just one life.
After playing today I like the bots in this game, seems more refined than enlisteds AI
I would love to have infantry in normal ground battles without bots… you have 3 big caps for vehicles and smaller sub caps for infantry (all can be capped vahicle/inf) but it would make going into the city with tanks less effective and harder to do would be a nice mix in this game but movement has to be improved and bots have to be erased would be nice ^^
I agree with this post. Your squad is a good way to negate the spawning in, dying once and running back to the action issue. Especially with infantry that can’t cover vast distances in a short time. This isn’t much of a problem for vehicles when even the maus can roll faster than a human can run. It also differentiates infantry from many other FPS games and also makes the battlefield more alive. Maybe simulator could include single man infantry but I think it’s a good feature.
Seeing so many likes on this is harrowing. The points made in the discussion barely hold up.
- It will make vehicles more powerful on the battlefield than they already are.
- Infantry negates spawning and running in issue people LOVE to complain about even with the 100km/h tanks on shoebox sized maps.
- This game already has many controls for advanced mechanics. You are not forced to interact with them but benefit from doing so.
- I would not leave my squad to die. It really just needs a single button press and that’s it.
Unfortunately the english stream did say no bots on realistic but the gameplay showed otherwise.
I would also like to add: AI infantry is also good for the player economy. Not in terms of rewards, but player numbers. Why? One of the biggest problems in GRB (and partially even in ARB) is that the matches are mostly TDM where less experienced players suffer, sometimes doing almost nothing but being food for the more experienced players. This is bad for engagement and is the root cause for a lot of frustrations in matches. When you accomplish nothing you get frustrated and worst case players leave for good. If you’re an experienced player, or even above average, a reminder that for your KD to exist, you need to have many people below you to achieve that. It’s also why I believe GRB should have AI targets of some sort.
This kind of thought is often the lifeblood of F2P games. If you only let the experienced players experience the game, it instantly feels worse and bleeds people to somewhere else.
Ai targets will only make the grind easier for player who plays solo and wipes out sqads did that during CBT I played solo kept my AI at the spawn… or flew a heli shot once with the autocannon got a kill and if i got it then i spam rockets to wipe out the squad because if there is one there will be more… less skilled players will suffer even more because with AI you can die and take controll of the other 3 bots you have to push in again and again in short succesions wiping out enemies faster and easier then if you had a solo mode
you can control ur bots to let them sit in the back somewhere and use them to secure the spawn or a certain point as they will shoot at anything and if you die u just switch to them
