T58 was debunked as a ‘fake’ tank in 2020, then again in 2024 by Harold Biondo. I actually highly doubt the developers would’ve added the T58 in the first place if the photos of the IRL prototype with the completed hull + turret ever got leaked from his Patreon page.
I think the question is rather “What are the specific rules for tanks and aircraft?”
We know the unfinnished prototypes can be added but unfinnished to what extend? Like for example is Kranvagn with only its hull made considered eligible? Or to stretch it even further if there were only few major parts built like engines and bomb bay for example (like in the case of recently suggested 26DMU). Would that still count as well?
I am a proud owner of all three of those Tanks, and I gotta protest against this inflammatory remark. I have, play and enjoy these vehicles because they harken back to a very special time of the games History when everything was still possible, before any top tier or copy paste fatigue. I see them as a piece of History, something very special, and I don’t want them to become made into something different. And I play them because I like them, not to sweat on others. If I end up as Number 1 of the Team or get a nuke, then because I enjoy playing with these vehicles just as they are. I am even reluctant to remove the NVD from the Panther II because it is one of its own signature gimmicks.
Not at all. But I am against replacing them or completely remodeling them. I like them just how they are. Some more historical variants could of course be added too. But as separate additions.
I’ll throw my two cents into the ring with this topic.
While I do own all three vehicles, the one I would be fine with seeing come back is the Flakpanzer 341. The fact that it has photographic proof of having reached the mock-up stage, yet got replaced by something with an even more dubious existence, is irritating. If I remember correctly, the cannon arrangement on the Ostwind II is also dubious at best. Side by side or vertically stacked? Who knows, there’s barely any information on the vehicle.
With vehicles like the Tiger 10.5, Panther II and R2Y2s and Ho Ri, I can understand their removal. Would I be cool with seeing a more correct Panther II be introduced? Dang right I would be, I love cool WWII project/prototype vehicles. The hull for the Panther II exists, start with that, do some reading into what the turret and armament would have been and go from there. Deliver the best interpretation possible, and to sweeten the deal, make the OG Panther II available again. The same thing can apply to the Ho Ri; Since the post about its removal made a point about new information coming to light, then make good on it and deliver a more proper interpretation.
I always saw WT as a digital museum for these vehicles, to preserve and record our technological progression over the 100+ years. To remove some vehicles because of “game balance” or “inaccuracy” is bogus; The game is about to be thirteen years old, who cares at this point? They’re cool examples of “what-if” scenarios given digital life. If anything, we should be seeing more of these kinds of vehicles. They aren’t going to completely destroy the realism of the game, the game balance is going to be fine, we get some new and unique vehicles and have some god dang fun again.
I think that’s the fairest approach one could take when it comes to these vehicles.
Realistically nobody is hurt by them being re-introduced into their respective tech trees, as they are playable either way. The people that are gatekeeping them because they think it should be a privilege to own them will be annoyed, but there are options to give them something “special” to show that they unlocked them before they were re-introduced.
I personally don’t have the German ones, but I do have access to the Ho-Ris and the R2Y2s and I wouldn’t have any problem with letting other people obtain them again. Either they are too unrealistic and get removed entirely (or at least banned from realistic and sim battles) or they aren’t and everyone gets to unlock and use them.
The current approach just means that people meet these unrealistic vehicles less frequently, but they still are immersion breaking for those that care about this kind of thing.
I see that too i have none of them, i barely missed them back then and now i have just so managed to get the Ho-Ri Produktion unlike most of my friends.
I relay don’t like to see vehicles get removed in my opinion where there two better ways to solve this issue, first remove them for everyone and make a event like with the Maus that you have every time at Gaijin’s anniversary the chance to choose one of those removed vehicles and grind. This would also apply on the other vehicles like the Ho-Ri maybe there could even be other unobtainable vehicles like the Sturmmörser like this every year everyone could get a vehicle of they’re choice at Gaijin’s birthday even the veterans who might not have gotten one in the past or would like to complete a collection and one vehicle a year would not be too much either and could be made for many years with all the possible vehicles.
The other option i could imagine was making the vehicles realistic so they can stay i would prefer the other idea since you cant make none existing vehicles realistic and would change iconic vehicles from the game but if the realism is the problem that might be would have been a solution and maybe someone has another even better idea to this problem that is not just giving them up.
The Sturmtiger has been available through SL crates before, it’s obviously a suboptimal way to give people the chance to obtain these vehicles, but it’s better than having no way to do so at all.
The majority of previous event vehicles will show up in the SL crates every once in a while and prior Battlepass and certain event exclusives may appear as rewards in future battlepasses.
The camo chest of the Night Vision update (the next update after the German tanks got hidden) included a camo for the Tiger II 10.5cm (tagged as semihistorical btw)
Gaijin doesn’t even care enough to not include new camos for these “removed” (hidden) vehicles. They would rather tease people that open those trophies with camos for vehicles that they may never be able to unlock…
I know and i have spent millions of SL to get one but the chances are just too low all i got until now was a German ship and a American low tier plane the chances of actually getting one is just incredibly low.
I just think it would be a fairly good way to bring them back maybe they could mark them as semi-historical like some camos on the market that everyone knows they aren’t fully realistic but can still stay in the game as a unique event vehicles and be enjoyed by the players that didn’t get the chance to get them back then when they first where available.
I see blueprint stuff that’s at least physically possible as perfectly valid, though ONLY to fill tech tree gaps where the alternative is more copy-paste slop. Snail changed their rules arbitrarily for ships, so they can do the same for tanks or planes just the same at a whim.
This game models a ton of things real life would consider questionable already. Everything is in perfect condition even when the factories making it would not have been able to do such.
Engine governors are meant to extend engine lifespan…but when the game doesn’t even model engine wear and tear over time…why are we having to endure the reduced power output “punishment” when our engines don’t wear out ingame?
It’s like how for so many years the British QF 75mm was saddled with M61 solid shot “because tests using M61 APHE frequently showed shattering upon impact,” in a game that doesn’t model APHE breaking up on impact. We didn’t need the solution because we didn’t have the problem said solution was solving. The engine governor nerf on Tigers and Panthers is the exact same.
It’s an open top with a great gun and good mobility and fast RoF. There’s not much reason why people don’t use it more.
I am glad I do not give a single fuck about top tiers, and probably won’t until the game’s official servers die.
I don’t get how the tank is “unrealistic” when its literally photographed there.
Gotta drive up that artificial scarcity and FOMO after all! Gotta make the players who don’t own the vehicle feel like they’re missing out on something when they get a camo for it!
Though let’s be honest, most players probably sell those skins to get more crate keys and gamble for the skin they want for some top tier vehicle or whatever.
Are there really no plans regarding the vehicles? Of course not right away, but in the future, i don’t know the exact numbers of players, but I still think many players would love to have the chance to get these vehicles.
And one more question, is another survey planned for this year? If yes mabe the devs could make a question in this survey adressing this matter so they know what the players think of this matter. I don’t know if there was alredy sutch a question adressed at the players so please tell me if there was so.
Currently no, we have no plans to return them. As we said on multiple occasions.
We typically have surveys after major updates to gather feedback about them. Where there are free feedback slots where players can leave feedback about any items they wish. We dont have plans to include a question about these vehicles.
