Please for the love of god add the equivalent of a capture point to the spawn zone for repair / crew

Stop with this knife battle nonsensical garbage gameplay. Let us have real attrition rather than making us J out and go to hanger. It’s not entertaining. It’s not fun. It’s quite destructive to your own game.

I don’t understand how the comment relates to the topic but I like the idea of being able to repair/rearm at spawn.

Gameplay presently encourages holding W and getting behind the enemy team or dying and going to the next match. You are not rewarded for holding positions tactically, you are punished with slower reload times and lack of ammo.

Vamilad, holding positions ‘tactically’ is called occupation, war thunder is only a game when people are engaging each other in combat. ‘Battle’ is already a game mode present on most if not all maps ground forces maps. There’s technically no ticket bleed and no incentive to drive off and get killed (as you are describing) but the tactics for the ‘Battle’ game mode are hardly different from other ground forces maps. With that in mind do you really think that your proposal to have a home base to set up camp at for the duration of the match is a solution?

I just like the Idea of being able to rearm at the spawn if you’re in an SPAA and can’t safely get into the match, or if your tank is stock and you need to repair a breach, turret ring or barrel and can’t safely push onto a CAP point.

Having a place to retreat to makes a lot of sense and I agree with you in that players who know they have somewhere to retreat might be less likely to throw their tanks away and join another battle.

Other than that I don’t think there’s any evidence to support the rest of what you are saying.

The issue is not isolated to a single game mode.

If the only option I have after being shot is to die despite being able to retreat under my own power the game has a fundamental flaw.

Are you certain that you’ve understood my comment?

I am not sure whether you understand the game.

I hope you don’t carry on in real life the way you do in the forums, you’re quite an unpleasant person to deal with and I really struggle to have conversations with you in good faith.

sigh

Allow me to clarify myself so there’s no miscommunication. I’m agreeing with your points about repairing and re-arming at spawn

What I’m not agreeing with is this:

Gameplay presently encourages holding W and getting behind the enemy team or dying and going to the next match. You are not rewarded for holding positions tactically,

And the reason I bring up the ‘Battle Mode’ is because it is an environment where there is no incentive to rush the enemy and teams aren’t punished for setting themselves up tactically and Holding their own capture point. However, players are still rushing forward, dying, and attempting to capture the enemy point.

So I was putting that scenario forward as evidence that offering a capture point at spawn like you are suggesting, is not likely to change the way people play the game, or at the very least won’t result in a better outcome than the one you are complaining about the:

Gameplay presently encourages holding W and getting behind the enemy team or dying and going to the next match.

So, assuming that you actually read and understood my comment, I then asked you why you think, that offering the alternative capture point at spawn would change this. I was hoping you might have more of an explanation of your thoughts and we could have a discussion about it.

instead you write this:

The issue is not isolated to a single game mode.

If the only option I have after being shot is to die despite being able to retreat under my own power the game has a fundamental flaw.

In response to single sentence I wrote, and it’s out of context. So your reply makes no sense to me as it is not what I’m trying to communicate, you are continuing to argue the point despite me agreeing with you.

I hope my comment about you being unpleasant to deal with doesn’t seem unfair with an explanation on how it feels to try and discuss things with you.

and then this

I am not sure whether you understand the game.

are you in such a bad frame of mind that you are just reflexively insulting?

There is a difference between a Capture point in a defended position and an open position accessibly by both teams.

By “equivalent of a capture point to the spawn zone” I mean a repair zone / ammo refill zone. This would should not be telegraphed to the enemy and even better should encompass the entire spawn detection area so as to avoid grouping for enemy CAS.

Still CAS would be presented with multiple targets as there would still be capture points to contend with so maybe it wouldn’t matter.

Absolutely not. You’ll have pantsirs and other spaa just throwing out ammo like it’s no tomorrow

Blow them up?

I like the idea of being able to repair at the spawn, I can think of plenty of instances that would have helped me in repairing stock vehicles after a damage hit. Turn around or reverse to safety repair and then proceed, I can see how this will help with the stock grind.

For sure rearming spaa is a bad idea, too many missiles will be spammed and then rearmed again, that might add to the imbalance factor.

Aircraft can land and rearm indefinitely, why is it unbalanced for SPAA to also be able to rearm?

Well at times I can see where you are coming from especially beyond 12km missiles that can have the overpowering factor, but picking ground targets and then hitting or bombing them is a way harder skill than sitting in an aa vehicle moving slightly to the left or right lock on and press a button as much as you like, no need to maneuver no need to check for other aircraft in the air. Its way easier to play aa and way easier to abuse it in comparison to air.

The suggestion for this was made months back, and should’ve been what was bumped and if not linked.

Cap the objective point or hodl a position just to encourage getting bombed by CAS. This game is COD hodl W and gets blown up simulator.

A fortified or defended cap will just become a crutch for the same lazy/disengaged players that are currently ‘holding w’

The reason these players behave this way is because they’re not interested learning the game or only interested in the bare minimum to get by. This type of player is going to ignore change in map anyway.

I don’t think the addition of a capture point at spawn is of much benefit other than a place to re-arm and repair.

When you mention this, I though you had a good point below.

Which makes me think if we’re going to have a place to rearm tanks, it should be like a home base 300-500m behind the spawn away from the battle. It should function similarly to an airfield except without any AAA guns.

This way vehicles have to disengage from the battle to rearm. Now it becomes a tactical decision where a player risks rearming at cap or retreating to safety but at a considerable time penalty.

I was thinking about the rearm times for SPAA which is likely balanced around the fact that SPAA is very vulnerable outside of spawn.

If something like a homebase for ground vehicles were added, the rearm time could be nerfed or adjusted, combined with a suitable distance to rearm depending on map size, the abundance of Missiles for SPAA could be managed.

If they do give spawn point the ability to replenish ammo like objective points, then a lot of SPAA will have the ability to fire their auto-cannons non-stop without dealing with cool-down, not that I have issues with that since I hate CAS in ground battles.

I made reference to missile SPAA as the ammunition is far more deadly per shot, and missilse SPAA tend to carry very limited ammo reserves compared to something like the Gepard or Shilka. Most cannon SPAA still need to fire several long bursts to be effective.

With that in mind, my focus was directed at Missile SPAA as increasing their ammo capacity through a safe rearm could have a considerable impact on their Battle rating as they accumulate more kills per match.

As for cannon SPAA, I feel as though they are far less sensitive to changes in ammo capacity. I feel like the Gepard, Shilka, Marksmen etc would still be more or less the same vehicle if we doubled or tripled their ammo capacity.

I am agreeing with you, I just feel like cannon SPAA is not the primary concern in this instance
