He means it forces you to learn tank weakspots/ammo layout and how to aim, if you plan on playing 9.0+ you are gonna have an awful time just expecting to lolpen and 1 tap anything you do regardless of where you hit.
That kind of isn’t the thing, and at 9.0+ any shot that penetrates will spall enough to deal damage. Even higher tiers, most tanks have either blowouts or ammo that is ridiculously easy to hit. And you really don’t need to be forced to learn tank weakspots, since the LFP and turret ring are 2 massive ones.

Would not say that the basket generate more spall. In my case it actually have absorbed a good amount of spall when a shell actually penetrate. It did save me a decent amount of time but that just me and given Gaijin track record. Yeah cope with it , you will get used to it. They are not removing a feature that they spent money on , especially considering it contributing to “realism” of the game. Shouldn’t have asked for more “realistic” model Ig

It’s hard to see because of the first wave of spall. But slow it down to 0.25 and you can see a second generate upon hitting the basket.
i gave images that paused the exact moment it spall and An Pigeon still said it doesnt create spall

I did not deny that , I’m just saying from what I can see it does absorb spall from time to time and the spall from the second cone seem to be ignoreable. Cause in other case , death is certain. It just come down to personal experience at the end of the day. Cause Gaijin can’t code for shit. That why shell sometime refuse to explode and T series doesn’t blow up, not counting the bad shot

In case you’re referring to the russian t-series tanks you mean the tanks where 2 crew are magically floating above an autoloader (all without a turret basket so far…russian magic until it is implemented and will get immediately buffed because only then players will fully understand how dumb its current implementation is) which you can shoot right through without a fatal explosion because russian tank designers somehow could forsee that exactly the thickness they are using for those plates will be the thickness that like 20 years later gaijin will use as the cutoff from armor creating spall to armor not creating spall. So you will have to hit the propellant charges directly and can even shoot right underneath it from the front taking out only its engine while an apfsds round travelled right through the whole fighting compartment (tbf just above the tanks floor but still)?
If anything now paper tanks that really require no precision aiming to pen and their only saving grace considering survivability in citybrawls was being bigger with 4 crew and them being more spaced out so you could still get lucky and at least be able to shoot back if either your gunner or commander survived the turret baskets made sure that all of those now are certain oneshots center of mass or at least cant shoot back after being hit basically anywhere where they get penned. which is a lot of the area from the front. Basically survivability for leos and abrams went from: “Don’t get shot at and if, hope you get lucky” to “dont get shot at cause if you get hit anywhere except for unbelievably bad shots, youre dead unless the guy shooting messed up completely”
While shooting at T series tanks it’s even a diceroll when hitting the tiny weakspots. Kinda dumb but i honestly didnt expect more from the snail after playing the leos after the barrel depression nerf not being able to shoot at 0 ° elevation for more than 90° from the front because realism. Man if we crave realism so much why am i bumbrushin in close quarter city abandoned whatever maps in more than 50% of my matches with engagement distances of 200 m?

Yeah I mean weird stuff happens to any tank you can shoot at in this game and it depends wildly how you perceive it of which nation you’re currently playing. I still find its kinda funny that in an attempt to make the game more consistent (much appreciated imo) the snail then proceeds to go only half way (i mean i kinda am sure theyre planning adding turret baskets for all tanks that have them but i’ll only believe it when i see them on the t80s). Or buildings somehow turned invisible by apparently being destroyed but theyre actually not so you see the tanks behind but cant shoot them. Ammo exploding or maybe not. Fuel tank explosion probability being linked to crew survivability. Suddenly desync issues offsetting everything for a couple of 100 ms making shots at moving targets dicerolls (without being able to tell beforehand if servers are desynched or not). Almost makes you want to watch their esport matches and see people getting gaijinned competitively
The weird things that can happen shooting at russian tanks almost makes you think of only shooting at them if youve got an option to reverse into safety just in case your clean shot decides to do absolutely nothing. i mean i shot right through the driver port of a t-something with top tier apfsds and damaged only its engine. dont ask me how, dont ask me why but i wouldve never guessed that that could happen. worst case i would have guessed engine and driver but only the engine…idk man. Sometimes apfsds to the top of the turret roof yeets 2 crew sometimes a 90 degree flat shot right through the whole tank and its autoloader does absolutely nothing. Consistency defined.
