Helicopters would be kinda pointless, easy targets unless it was made to be a ‘simulator’ type mode. Still then, it wouldn’t be as fun or easy.

It’s not like they couldn’t add more mountains or places for helicopters to fly through. If helis have low-altitude paths to fly and hover in, planes will have a hard time shooting them down since they can just hide by diving. In this mode, flying high is a death sentence anyway because of the SPAAs.

I would like to see the ground SPAA, like the HAWK, added to the ground vehicles selection. The vehicle you have shown would be a Russian Multi-Vehicle SAM for 11.0~ BR.
If I was a helicopter playing this mode my main concern would be:
- On the Allied side the Osas, even for Jets these things are obnoxious 12km death zones and if I flatten them spamming AGM-88s (at least 2 to kill one and often more) they respawn several more. And say if you have a high tier heli, with how slow Hellfires or even JAGMs are and how they love to intercept munitions; god knows how many you’d need to spam to kill one Osa.
- The above would be similar for USSR unless you allow Vikhrs, then Rolands become trivial, even then I think you can chain spam Atakas(?), been a while since I played USSR heli ngl
- Pretty much anything less than an AH-64A/AH-1W/Mi-28N/Mi-35P would be nigh unplayable
- Travel time

Helicopters could be highly effective for applying pressure on enemy armies and depots. With careful maneuvering, a helicopter could fly low along roads to engage and neutralize SPAA units defending objectives. You could even introduce a “capture” system similar to the one used in Helicopter PvE modes, where helicopters can capture enemy depots once they’ve been destroyed. This would allow them to provide cover and support for an advancing friendly ground army while the enemy attempts to counter the push.
I even had an idea for “themed” armies and depots based on the ratio of nations in a given team. For example, imagine a team made up of 60% American, 30% British, and 10% French aircraft. The ground armies and depots that spawn would then reflect those same percentages — spawning a mix of American, British, and French armies in proportion to the team composition.
I really, really hope Gaijin decides to implement this (hopefully with variants for lower BRs). It gives people an option to play aircraft as they were intended to be used IRL.
One critique of the current implementation: the NPC AA units need to have their effectiveness against munitions reduced and/or be given limited magazines (perhaps able to fire a reasonably-sized burst, then have to “replenish” for a period?)
Cant think of a nation thats lacking in both across a wide spectrum of BR’s, except maybe Sweden
This is literally the best mode I’ve seen in recent years of War Thunder’s new additions. I personally has been a bit burn out on WT after playing it for 12 years and this mode single handedly pulled me back and made me addict to it again. The real realism is not only to imitate the vehicle’s data in real life, but to put them into their actual roles and allow players to play them with how they are designed to be used, and this mode is just perfect for this.
Gaijin COOKED in this mode. It is more fun, more realistic and more healthy than usual rb. The map is huge so you can actually make an strategy, stealth is gonna be useful, jammers and subsonic strike aircraft too. Of course they have to fix BR and balancement stuff, but it is gonna be amazing.

Stealth might help with the SAMs a bit, but vs players, the moment you get “spotted”, any and all stealth goes out the window. Whether that be tactics like terrain masking or hiding in ground clutter all the way up to actually RCS stealth like on the F-117.
Especially important when on big maps. Its part of the reason why ground attackers are a lot healthier in ASB than in ARB
Yes, stealth planes are still going to be vulnerable to players, but i was talking more about SAMs. But with proper escort and strategy, they will be great! Imagine a B2 as a nuke bomber
Ah yeah, in that regard. Yeah, (providing AI are actually affected by stealth, they arent even currently affected by there being a hill in the way)
The only broblem, in my oppinion, is the fact that it is going to be kinda ubalanced for USSR players, because like 80% of cold war stealth vehicles were from USA. But, this can be countered by adding modern stealth vehicles (but with some restrictions) to russia or adding more fighters or better spotting systems. I said “imagine a b2 as a nuke bomber” but it would be awful to get nuked without even knowing where the hell it came from 😭
