Planned Battle Rating Changes (August 2026)

Vehicle: M4A3E2
Gamemode: Ground Realistic
BR Change: 5.7 —> 5.3
Reason: If all IS-2 and Tiger II (Nr.1-50) have BR down by 0.3, then Jumbo should be changed accordingly.

Vehicle: MAUS
Gamemode: Ground Simulator
BR Change: remove it from 8_2 preset
Reason: Red team has almost no means to kill it outside of pixel hunt or bombing it. It clearly overperform compared to most other vehicles.

Vehicle: DF-105
Gamemode: Ground Simulator
BR Change: remove it from 8_2 preset
Reason: A vehicle that is faster than everyone, has 400-pen HEAT rounds and 5 sec reaload just ruins gameplay for 1940’s era tanks.

the bmpt is so easy to destroy if you cant destroy you are just skill issue boddy
they are fine as it is at 11.7 they arent bad but they arent op anymore

Vehicle: T26E5
Gamemode: Ground Realistic
Change: No change of BR 6.7 or give it faster reload like M36 gun at BR 7.0
Reason: T26E5 Fire power is way too weak at 7.0 if not improved.

Vehicle: Mirage-4000

Gamemode: Air Realistic

BR Change: 13.0 → 12.7/12.3

Reasoning :
It has limited payload capacity (8 Magic 2s / 6 Magic 2s + Super Matra 530s / 2 Magic 2s + 4 Super Matra 530s), so against SU-33s or other aircraft of the same battle rating, it clearly doesn’t measure up in terms of payload. That’s why lowering its battle rating is urgent.

Vehicle: Super Etendard

Gamemode: Ground Realistic

BR Change: 11.0 → 10.3/10.0

Reasoning:
When compared to other aircraft, its payload capacity is ridiculous and clearly deserves a lower Battle Rating.

Vehicle: Mirage-2000d-R1

Gamemode: Ground Realistic

BR Change: 11.3 → 11.0

Reasoning:
When compared to other aircraft, its payload capacity is ridiculous and clearly deserves a lower Battle Rating.

Vehicle: SU-30MK2/SU-30MKK

Gamemode: Air Realistic

BR Change: 13.3 → 13.7/14.0

Reasoning:
I think the whole community agrees that these two planes have no business being at such low BR (6 Fox + 4 Fox 2), not to mention the flight path and everything else. In short, these BR planes clearly don’t belong in 13.3.

Vehicle: F-2A (ADTW)

Gamemode: Air Realistic

BR Change: 13.0 → 12.7

Reasoning:
It’s an aircraft with a good flight plan, but considering its payload, it clearly deserves the 12.7

Vehicle: PT-76-57
Gamemode: Ground Simulator
BR Change: remove it from 8_2 preset
Reason: It should be obvious: 57mm autocannon with dual plane stab on a LT is just to OP for that preset.

Are you daft?

You can like check things before you say something

unfortunatly you are right

a certain portion of this community aren’t tank/plane/ships enthusiasts, they have more larping motives
this idea/feeling of appreciation for historical vehicles stop very quickly their production chain and they will call anything from wooden mocks up to blueprints fake tanks, and slop. (TheCodMineMan)

i think it’s a crazy concept. games makes the perfect bed to see vehicles that unfortunatly didn’t make it, to imagine and try to represent how they would move and interact in a certain enviroment. the kranvagn, the wz 111, strv 2000, lowe, uss montana

and warthunder treating the few they have added in the game as socks to be thrown away after their use, feel very disrepectfull to them. i wish they would accept that its fine if they aren’t perfect, they aren’t meant to be, they weren’t finished, but they still deserve their place in the game as important part of history and tank production and design evolution

I looked on google and it said.£60. Must of been the other turm

At work so cant look on PC.

Even if it costs £5 its a rip off

Whether or not I am competent in dealing with them has no relevance on whether they are OP or not.

Being able to kill an OP vehicle doesnt magically make it not OP.

Vehicle: 2S6
Gamemode: Ground Simulator
BR Change: remove it from 10_2 preset
Reason: Back in the day it was resonable as red team had weaker heli/aircraft options, but nowdays tide has changed J-22M1A, MiG-27K and Z-9WA are arguably best CAS machines. Since every else at blue team tops at Osa/Strela and some doesn’t have anything better than Roland there is no reason for Soviets to keep 2S6.

Gaijin determines BR changes based on aggregate performance statistics across all players. This methodology has a critical flaw: it doesn’t separate player skill tiers.

The Leopard 1A5 Example:

The Leopard 1A5 at 9.3 BR is being proposed for a buff to 9.0. I say this as someone who genuinely loves these vehicles. I own handmade models of them. This isn’t competitive frustration. It’s concern that a vehicle I care about is being misrepresented by flawed data.

Here’s what those statistics don’t show:

  • Experienced players perform excellently with Leopard 1A5 because they understand its playstyle: long range sniping, mobility-based flanking, avoiding direct brawling
  • Inexperienced players consistently misuse it as a brawler, dying repeatedly to vehicles it was never designed to fight head-on
  • The aggregate stat combines both groups, producing misleading “poor performance” data

The Real Issue

War Thunder’s player population includes:

  1. Veterans who understand vehicle-specific playstyles
  2. Players who skipped the learning curve through premium vehicles
  3. New players who haven’t developed playstyle awareness yet
  4. Players who watched a 2-minute YouTube video on how Leopard tanks actually work vs. those who haven’t

When a Leopard 1A5 player uses it as a brawler against T-72s instead of a long-range sniper, the resulting death isn’t a vehicle performance issue. It’s a playstyle issue.

Gaijin’s statistics can’t distinguish between these two scenarios.

As someone with a background in sociology and data analysis, the misuse of aggregate statistics without controlling for skill variables is a well-documented methodological flaw. It produces misleading conclusions regardless of the field it’s applied to. War Thunder’s BR decisions are no exception

The Cascade Effect

This creates a predictable and documented cycle:

  1. Aggregate stats show poor performance (due to misuse)
  2. Gaijin interprets this as vehicle underperforming
  3. BR buffed to lower bracket
  4. Skilled players immediately exploit the now-undertiered vehicle
  5. Gaijin panics and reverses or overcompensates
  6. Russian/other nation vehicles get compensatory BR changes
  7. The whole BR ecosystem shifts based on one flawed decision

We’ve seen this pattern repeatedly: vehicles get buffed, get exploited, get nerfed, trigger compensatory changes elsewhere. The root cause is always the same: aggregate data without skill filtering.

What Gaijin Already Has

Gaijin stores detailed player statistics in profiles: K/D ratios, win rates, vehicle-specific performance, match scores. The data to separate skilled from unskilled players already exists. It’s allegedly just not being applied to BR decisions.

Why This Matters

Bad BR decisions based on flawed methodology affects the whole game development:

  • Skilled players get their vehicles undertiered then overtiered repeatedly
  • New players face vehicles that were buffed for wrong reasons
  • Other nations get compensatory changes based on flawed premises
  • The BR ecosystem becomes increasingly unstable

I may submit this as a formal Suggestion. Community discussion and additional examples welcome.

(Please read the post fully before answering)

Should Gaijin use skill-tiered performance data rather than aggregate stats for BR decisions?
  • Yes, separate all player tiers for BR evaluation
  • Yes, but only for vehicles with complex playstyle requirements
  • Yes, but use different tier criteria (explain below)
  • No, aggregate stats are sufficient (please explain)
  • I don’t know / I don’t care
