Let’s begin by addressing the elephant in the room: the proposed Air Realistic BRs on the spreadsheets. Most of the proposed BR changes for aircraft are unnecessary. I’ll start with the aircraft below, and then post separate feedback for each vehicle that follows:
F8U-2
Air Realistic Battles: 10.0 → 10.3
Reasoning: It already performs well at its current BR of 10.3. Shifting it to 10.0 is another blatant example of balancing based on player statistics rather than the aircraft’s actual capabilities. It had gone to 10.0 before and then moved back to 10.3, so this proposed BR change should be reverted.
Air AB, Mystere IVA 9.0 > 8.7 (France and Israel) : it has no IR missiles, no afterburner and worst aerodynamics compare to the Super Mystere B2 which is also 9.0. The 30mm canons are good but 8.0 F-86s have better flight performance and its energy retention is terrible. The comparison is even worse with a 8.3 Javelin or Scimitar which have better firepower AND flight caracteristics !
Cool story, Bob. I never hover in helicopters and constantly alternate between strafe left and right, but it’s still only a matter of time before one of hundreds of missiles interrupts this “gameplay.” I need to get within 3 km, and the missile will fly for about 10 seconds. The cheetah just needs to throw smoke or squirm back and forth. If you can’t do this in the cheetah, then the problem is YOU. P.S. I especially liked the story about the 3 km distance, when the cheetah shoots you down almost at the nearest helicopter field.
The game is already free, but playing CAS right now feels like a paid suffering mode.
At this point, CAS players should honestly be receiving Golden Eagles as compensation. You spawn, get locked instantly by SPAA, and go back to hangar — that’s not gameplay, that’s a service you’re providing.
Feels less like combined arms and more like a full-on BDSM experience — except players didn’t sign up for that, and they’re the ones paying instead of getting paid.
Meanwhile, SPAA and tank players get a clean experience with minimal risk. So if anyone should be paying, it’s probably them — they’re the ones actually enjoying the result.
Jokes aside, the balance is clearly skewed. CAS is not interacting with the battlefield, it’s just being suppressed the moment it appears.
Air AB, Vautour IIB and Vautour IIA 9.7 → 9.3 (France and Israel) : abyssmal flight performance at for this BR you can’t avoid the fighters you face going mach 1, and dodging a missile is physically not possible in this plane.
Alpha Jet’s top speed reduced (FM nerf) (Bug Report)
Alpha Jet’s sustained G and thrust boundaries fixes (FM nerf) (Bug Report)
Reasoning: There are accepted reports that have not yet been implemented in War Thunder that would correct the Alpha Jet’s flight model, reducing its overperformance. It does not make sense to move the Alpha Jet up to 9.0 while also planning to apply flight model changes that would negatively impact its performance.
It would be more logical to correct the flight model first and then monitor its performance and statistics at 8.7. Revert these proposed BR changes for the Alpha Jets without the air-to-air missile capability.
Lmao no, spikes are not good at all, insanely inconsistent and you can avoid them with smoke
survivable? You shoot the turret and it can’t fight back, loses half its ammo and needs to re-arm a LOT of 30mm rounds in the rack or is stuck with 3 minute reload if unlucky AFTER repairing.
All the crew is in one place, it’s incredibly easy to kill.
It could probably go back to 10.7 without causing any serious issues.
These are not the stats of a good or broken vehicle
Remove the ability to have unlimited WEP (Bug Report)
Give the F-80C-10 its missing JATO units (Bug Report)
Reasoning: I fail to see the justification for moving the F-80C Shooting Star to 8.0, the same BR as the F-86A Sabre. The F-80C-10 is not comparable to the F-86A-5 or the MiG-15 in terms of flight performance. This proposed BR change should be reverted, keeping the F-80C-10 at 7.7.
In exchange, it should not have unlimited WEP due to its water injection system.
In reality, the F-80C-10 had a limited supply of water-alcohol fluid for its WEP system. I have provided excerpts from the F-80C manual to support this.
Ground AB & RB, MEPHISTO 8.7 > 9.0 with the addition of HOT-3 missiles it historically carried : really similar to the chinese AFT-09 which is literally a copy of it. Moving it also at 9.0 allows it to be a good support for the 9.3 lineup. There are already 4 ground vehicles at 8.7 at the moment and none at 9.0 in the french tree.
RB: Yak-3 4.3->4.7
Great armanent, speed, climb, maneuvrability. It outguns and outperforms Bf 109 G6 in many metrics, same applies to other 4.7 fighters. The only downside is rip speed. While it turns worse than Spitfires, it’s just so much faster and better at maintaining energy.
Switch places between the F-100D and the Alpha Jet E in the french tech tree, respectively a fighter in the attacker line and an attacker in the fighter line… Moreover it seems logical to me for the super saber to be after an other sabre and before the F-8 which is literally based on the F-100.
The french (dutch) sea fury needs to be moved in the benelux line of the tech tree.
