Gaijin, you’ll never be able to balance CAS in tank battles using only anti-air vehicles.
In top-tier matches, for example, even after adding several strong AA vehicles, aircraft still manage to do significant damage. However, when you buff the AA too much, flying becomes unplayable.
I did some tests in custom matches, and the only times I had trouble doing CAS was when there were other planes trying to kill me.
I believe the AAs are very important, but on its own, it has already proven to be ineffective. So I’d like to suggest lowering the respawn point cost for planes that carry no air-to-ground weapons.
Imagine a plane with no bombs — much lighter — it would give a lot of trouble to bomb-loaded planes with less air-to-air weaponry.
In situations where you can’t spawn a plane to counter a helicopter or another aircraft, the match becomes practically unwinnable. In my opinion, a combination of planes and AA would be the perfect way to counter CAS and would reduce complaints from both sides (Tank and CAS players).
I’d also like to suggest removing extremely small maps from the rotation. These new AA vehicles are massive—like buildings—and it’s nearly impossible to place them in strategic spots that aren’t obvious and easy to kill, like the spawn. Being forced to sit in spawn with an AA makes life way too easy for CAS players.

SPAA shouldn’t be a viable counter. It only costs 70sp

While true, I have absolutely no desire to use planes when trying to play tanks.
There’s a dedicated mode - three in fact - for flying planes. If I want to fly planes - which I very much do - I’ll play those modes. Just look at my session history if you don’t believe it (over 288 hours of my 755 hours across naval, GRB, ARB, ASB are in ASB)
As such, when playing GRB it is done exclusively to satisfy moods to drive around a sherman, tiger, panther, stug, T-34, KV and so on and not to satisfy and already satisfied urge (well, there’s always room of course but still) involving aircraft, especially considering GRB is awful to fly in (Tiny map, short match duration (even without the ticketbleed), airspawns, ticket bleed, airfields within spitting distance), doing everything I stopped playing ARB for in favour of ASB and making it worse.
Much more prudent is Tank Only mode or balance changes that make aircraft less oppressive such as…
- Move those airfields back a reasonable distance
- Make aircraft spawn on said airfields, slightly above in float plane style if unable to take off from them and for strategic/heavy bombers they get to retain airspawn but behind the airfield.
- Remove scouting markers for planes, they can only rely on smokeshells or squad markers intentionally placed by team.
- Remove hitmarkers outright.
- Add realistic recoil to Yak-9K/Yak-9UT as described in documentation for consequences of slapping a 45mm gun in the nose of one of the lightest WW2 aircraft after the zeros.
Which is fighter only mode who gives no room for ground attacking part, while SB is not really a mode for everyone…
Indeed. They made it to a situation that planes don’t have time to resupply even though the AF is only inches from tank map. Hilarious.
1 and 2 won’t have that much change on efficiency for people will always have time for 1sts trike but not 2nd strike, but will be a good quality of life change for jets, especially for new fire and forgets. Having spawn zones inside the range of spawn sitting enemies is simply dumb.
For the markers… gaijin have always been trying to make information cheap no one knows why. They weren’t there at the beginning
recoil… lol no. Reliability is never a thing in WT. Just remove the ground afterpen (yes ground has a better afterpen than air formula) and the 45 won’t work as good.
