[Poll] - Placement of Singapore in-game
Gaijin’s planned addition of Singapore into the Chinese tech tree has sparked controversy, with different player opinions being shared in various topics of the forum, as well as many external communities.
At this point it becomes impossible to expect anyone, including Gaijin, to get a clear understanding of what the playerbase is really thinking.
To solve this issue I’ve been working with many other players, including Singaporeans, Chinese and others, who created a definitive poll. The goal of this poll, as well as this topic as a whole, is to gain as much reach as possible, and allow players to voice their opinions in a way that will be easily communicated to Gaijin, as well as allow a more civilized discussion than the general topic which also includes other current controversies.
The Poll
The poll includes the most popular and relevant options of previous polls alongside Gaijin’s proposed plan of adding it to China. Each option has its rationale explained below to provide players a better understanding of each option and to make a more informed choice.
The optional second poll gives an opportunity to share your nationality, giving Gaijin an additional metric to work with when evaluating this feedback.
- The poll is public, so please stay truthful. I also encourage any resulting discussions to remain civil and respectful.
How should Singaporean vehicles be represented in War Thunder?
- It should be an Israeli subtree
→ Rationale: After gaining independence, the IDF sent a mission of military advisors that provided training and military assistance, but the relationship was not widely publicised to not antagonise neighbouring countries[1]. Singapore and Israel maintain very close defence ties to this day in areas such as cyber[2] and weapons development, with examples such as the RSAF being the only other operator of Israeli modified F-16s[3] and the jointly developed Blue Spear missile[4]. The Israeli tech tree also stands to benefit most from Singaporean vehicles through new IFVs and light vehicles(…) which are sorely lacking in higher ranks.
- They should be split into the respective trees of each vehicle’s manufacturer. i.e. Leopard 2 SG to Germany, F-15SG to USA etc.
→ Rationale: Singapore uses a varied mix of equipment from different nations that all already have tech trees in War Thunder. They also operate unique variants that offer something different from existing vehicles in War Thunder.
For example, the Leopard 2SG can be added to Germany, while the F15SG can be added to the USA. Original designs like the Bionix and Hunter AFVs can be placed in trees that have more military relevance to Singapore.
- It should be a Japanese subtree
→ Rationale: Currently, vehicles from ASEAN nations such as Thailand and Indonesia are being added to the Japanese tech tree. Singapore is a part of ASEAN and could have its vehicles added to bolster current lineups with unique variants of vehicles that could fill gaps in the tree and provide a different style of gameplay to those currently in the tree.
- It should be a Chinese subtree
→ Rationale: Singapore has military relations with both the Republic of China (Taiwan/ROC) and the People’s Republic of China (PRC). Singapore-born personnel who served in the ROC played a part assisting in the creation of Singapore’s Navy and Airforce. The (SAF) also regularly conducts low-level exchanges with the People’s Liberation Army (PLA).
- Other option not named above
→ Explain

If a full Singapore sub-TT is required then Israel would make the most sense as they probably have the most need for the vehicles. But given the controversy, maybe they should just put the vehicles where they are best suited and split them up like they have for Canada and Australia. It sucks for those nations, but at least there isnt any drama about which TT gets the Sub-TT.
Though maybe this is a wake up call and they should just scrap the current implementation of Sub-TTs and start again

Watch Gaijin just copy paste a base Leopard 2A4 into ISR and call it a day.
Israel is already the most neglected tree and Gaijin will just take the laziest options and will just be an extreme disappointment.
I rather play with 4s reload Type 10s + Uparmoured Leopards.

Israel doesnt need a subtree because they can fill ALL the gaps with their own domestic stuff like China.

I’m from his majesty’s territory of the United kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and I say it make sense for Singapore to be with Israel,
Reason No.1, Israel is currently the weakest nation in the game and should have at least one sub before the year is out.
Reason No.2, If they want Japan to have Indonisia then that’s fine it puts them on par with other nations who got 2 subs each already.
Reason No.3, I believe putting Singapore into Israel will make everyone happy, the Chinese will like this and so too the Singaporeans themselves.
Reason No.4, In my believe China has already got a wide variety of vehicles it can have between the Communist and the Republic’s so they aren’t in need for a sub.

I believe it should go where the vehicles would serve use.
Sadly this means I must oppose Israel due to Israel having Ayit for ground forces, so A-4SU is less interesting for Israel.
I’ve heard Germany get floated as an option, which they do lack stronger CAS than the Squadron Hunter between it and… Tornado?
Japan is the other one lacking.
However, with Germany Singapore does use Leopard 2, and that makes sense as well.
China obviously have Q-5L and good top BR tanks, as well as being an issue for other reasons.
Those are my thoughts for now.

I think they should put Singapore in Italy. Why? Cause I think this is stupid drama so picking a wildcard option is the right solution.

Singaporean and active serving personnel of the Army here.
If my background wasn’t obvious enough, I remain steadfast in my belief that Singapore should be under Israeli tech tree.
Post-independence the Israelis were the first to answer to our call to set up the Armed Forces. Up till today such influence is still both being seen from our disclosed hardware assets (from independent systems to vehicle components down to individual unit equipment and many others that remain undisclosed), and unseen from TRADOC’s war fighting doctrine (e.g., pre-emptive first strike).
Japan would make sense, if Gaijin plans to turn it into an ASEAN Hub where other SEA countries may be added in the future. However as of present, we’re still warming our military ties with each other. The same can be said about China.
For the sake of the confused bunch, let me be clear about China:
The China tech-tree in game is represented by PRC as seen from the flag. We do not operate any assets of PRC origin (disclosed) and our military ties are limited to bilateral. We’ve seen more activities from the ROC in the early days but have since fallen. (TBT my time in Meilin Camp where the ROC personnel had no idea why we were even there for our annual Ex Starlight.)
Israel has plenty of rooms for subnations, Singapore can be considered while alongside with, say, Chile. I strongly advise the uneducated to look up on our substantial military ties with Israel before deciding on other options simply due to our nationality as Asians.

Italy is also a good option. Leopard + A-4SU would augment stuff in Italy as well.
Japan shouldn’t get SG, they have nothing in common.
China is the closest in proximity,
Israel could be alternative because their military collaboration.
Japan doesn’t need anything more. they have enough

If the tree is going to just be copy+paste vehicles, then I’d prefer Singapore just not be added at all. Not that they don’t have unique vehicles, but I just lack the faith in Gajin to give this subtree any significant effort, just like with the Finnish and BeNeLux subtrees.
If this isn’t the case, then I’m split between Japan and just going by nation of origin per vehicle.
The former makes sense if Gajin wants to make Japan the de facto ASEAN tree. Japan also doesn’t have as many indigenous vehicles left to add, so the addition of Singapore would be more impactful gameplay wise.
The latter option is the least offensive and would mean that Singaporean vehicles aren’t occupying spaces in the TT that could be filled by native vehicles.
On a related note, China and Israel both have plenty of native vehicles left to add in the higher BRs, so adding Singapore to either would be a cop-out from genuinely fleshing out either tree with their own vehicles.
Incorrect, Israel has very little left especially in light tanks which they desperately need.

Personally, I prefer it to be in Japan along with the other ASEAN countries, but if not, my second option would be to have it in Israel along with Chile. This way, Singapore is responsible for covering the missing spaces in the high ranges and Chile is responsible for the middle and low ranges, thus allowing Israel to have a complete tree with two countries that have close ties with it.
This is what a possible subtree for Chile and Singapore could look like if Gaijin implements it.

EDIT: Please also see my post below detailing relations between Singapore and Israel:
Original Post, relations between Singapore and Japan and/or China:
I do not really care either way, however your statement is false: Foreign relations of Singapore - Wikipedia
Trade agreement with Japan since 2002, but none with China: (That I can see here anyway. I am obviously not an expert. Just showing what I found on Wikipedia)

Second, under the “Diplomatic relations” section: Foreign relations of Singapore - Wikipedia
They have had diplomatic relations with Japan since 1966:

But only have had diplomatic relations with China since 1990:

Again, I do not have strong feeling either way, but the numerous posters claiming that Singapore has “nothing in common”/“nothing to do with” Japan is 100% false and needs to stop being repeated. It is simply not true.
