You have bombs, radar guided missiles and IR missiles
You select the bombs since you can not drop 8 of them at once without specifically selecting your bomb payload- it takes 10 bomb to destroy a base.
Suddenly enemy appears just in front of you
You want to select your IR or radar missiles, but there is no dedicated keybind to switch to radar missile or IR missile
You frantically cycle between missiles and bombs and you lose the opportunity to whack the enemy and maybe even bomb the base
You go agane
I know some of you lived through this. I know some will be defending status quo here and say “no, be better, git gud” whatever. But I care about the game I pay for round the year premium.
Here is how we can solve it
Allow us drop the bomb series or single bombs when specific missiles are also active
Provide an alternative weapon control system, based on payload we are creating. So old guards can still use their old methods and we can use the new. New system is like this. For every different type of weapon-including different subtypes like different weight of bombs, different radar missiles, we are allowed to add a keybind. Exampe keybind scheme from my Fr EJ example
R: Activate IR missile seeker/and even shoot, or separate keybind, based on what I prefer
Q: Radar lock/
Shift + Q: Shoot radar missile
Space: Drop single bomb-default case
Shift Space: Drop bomb series(8)
Ctrl Space: Drop bomb series(2)
As I said, no more weapon selection in this mode. Just really fine tuned controls for each different scenario. All can be set by right clicking in the specific slot → Assign keybind. What do you think?
I also noticed of this problem… I thought about importing the tank’s ammo selection instead… Which goes like :
1 - select and cycle between bombs
2 - select and cylce between missiles
3 - guided bombs
4 - guided missiles
Etc.
With of course te ability to customize it… Supposed to take less key binds for easier mapping as well
Anything that includes “select” will be pain the arse during the heat of the battle, like the current system. Payload specific keybinds as an alternative is better.
It is, problem is when you have more than two payload. You are fuxed especially you are forced to take multiple types of bombs in different scenarios where you want to maximize base killing or tank busting. Then you are need to skip through entire selection of bombs and maybe the desired missile is the second in the list. In case of overpressing, you need to repeat whole cycle again.
My only concern is this technically will take more keybinds then and im already pretty much at the limit of what keybinds i can add to my keyboard/mouse
Im already using some modifiers but i still dont have enough so i leave some things unbound
If you look through the controls they do actually already have keybinds for individual weapons infact its what is bound by default which personally is a horrible system cause it requires separate dropping keybinds instead of using the same one
Someone else mentioned the tank ammo selection system instead and i think i could support that instead since it just adds a couple keybinds instead of several for each weapon
My system is designed to be an alternative, not replacement. I am not sure how extra keybinds that is not mandatory would badly affect you?
Also those keybinds don’t work as you think
Drop bomb: Drops whatever bomb game set as default
Drops Series: Drops bombs one by one(drops 2/4/8/16 if you select the bomb specificly- different behavior)
Fire air to air missile: If you have multiple missile types radar/IR, you need to cycle to specific missile if game doesn’t set it as default one.
no, it doesn’t. read again. People who agree with me already got it. People saying you can already do this should get literacy classes at this point, because I won’t explain the same thing again.
Not to mention deciding number of bombs on each base if you carry even single type of bomb. If you need to drop 14x 250 lb bomb, you are kinde fuxed. You set bomb series to 8, then you need to drop 5 single bomb :D, i almost always miss by one bomb.
I like how you also have reading comprehension problem. When you use secondary weapon ripple, you can’t shoot missiles, which doesn’t make sense. They have literally different button in pilot’s stick. Use radar: not all planes have radar and not many people jump in front of you. In A7E, getting jumped from behind or side is basically death sentence. can’t maneuver even in empty plane.
How is this relevant? God, I knew there would be people who would def status quo and whine about any QoL request. I want separate control scheme that wouldn’t affect you. Use current one if you want.
Note: But I like your service to me. You make my thread visible.
To drop exactly 8 bomb at once with a single button, yeah, you need to select the bomb, you need to set amount and use drop bomb series. Out of selection, it will drop them automatically one by one, as long as you keep pushing the button.
You can’t set it to 6, only exponentials of 2 like 4/8/16. god I want to cut myself while reading some people’s comments. Are you guys even playing the game game?

Bomb series allows for you to select 6 or 8 too. It depends on the number of bombs you have.
It drops the set amount all at the same time. I just tested this.
I went did it while not in the weapons select mode. I had it set to 6, pressed the bomb series button and it dropped 6 bombs at the same time.
I did the same, selected 4, out of bomb selection, “fire secondary weapon” dropped exactly one with single button push. Unless you show me a video of doing that, I will believe my own eyes. But if you mean when you have 6 bombs total and spamming “fire secondary weapon” dropped 6 for you, it is not even related. You can not select 6 bomb when you have more than 6. Again, a screenshot of exactly 6 selection will make me believe.
