I wish they would add the goofy S-300VM, but to my knowledge, the only S-300 system that uses a single radar for both track and search is the S-300PMU-2

He’s basically hovering…1 m/s closure rate which, as everyone knows is the irl no1 strategy to be absolutely invincible to pd radars. Though i wouldnt trust on that if i were a heli pilot.

Well, the heli managed to reach the multi path height which killed your missiles track. Plus, it wasn’t really moving so the track was screwed up anyways and Helicopter blades don’t have Radar cross sections modeled that would usually track a non/slow moving target.

i think hes above multipath height which you can judge by the soft lock window which will wander off the target if he was. But youre right, hes basically static…1m/s closure rate which in itself is enough to turn him invincible to pd radar missiles (that and maybe a combination of maws system also launching chaff)

I saw that I forgot to mention that I meant the first missile or two were caused by the heli’s basically static movement

buk system is a joke sometime, took 3 missile for the 4 one to track and not eat ground

Its not moving, so SAM’s doppler radar likely can’t lock it??? When I use radar guided AMRAAMs from one of my jets, the results are also bad. Maybe it would have worked with TWS hard lock (if datalinking the SAM is possible). I shot down some helis with TWS lock, should work.

You should know the limitations of radar missiles. Ingame, shooting hovering helis close range is not what BUK was made for. Well, IRL it would work, cause the rotors light up every doppler related radar…but ingame moving rotors aren’t considered. Sadly, otherwise jets could deal much easier with helis.
