i would buy it for 25-30$. But it isn’t worth 60, especially against the comparatively OP t55am1. It’s a fun tank, very interesting, but way less competitive than any other rank V-VI premium.
Soviets getting T-14, Britain production Challenger 3, etc would cause so many dumb forum posts.

T-55AM-1 is chronically average at 8.7, I play at least 5 8.7s better than it.
This is a good alternative at a lower BR for people that don’t want to use the worst dart at 8.7.
it has apdsfs, heatfs, laser range finder, composite countering 105 heatfs and tungsten carbide sabot. I don’t know what are the better 8.7 to you (outside of the also broken tam2 IP). If i compare it to any other soviet 8.7 it’s the best and it’s better than many 9.0 tanks.
Tam 2IP is already like 9.0 - 9.3 at this point

Yeah, so does most other 8.7s in the game, except those tanks have APFSDS that pen over 50% more than T-55AM-1’s round.

it’s better than the leo a1a1, it’s better than the type69 II (all variants). It’s better than the m60 rise (but not the TTS), and it’s pretty resilient against auto-canons. It’s a very good 9.0 vehicle, yet it sits at 8.7 (and it has a powerful atgm just in case you can’t pen something, and aphe for softer targets. So no, it’s better than most 9.0, being more versatile, more armored, at the cost of a 0.6 sec longer reload.
Leo A1A1 has a round that pens over 50% more, and is a significantly faster tank.
Type 69 II has a round that pens over 50% more while having laser range finder.
Both are objectively superior to T-55AM-1.
M60 RISE is barely worse, and that’s only because of its speed. It fires a superior round with a similar armor profile.
ATGM requires gun depression which T-series vehicles don’t have.
Your posts’ defense of T-55AM-1 is like defending M26 Pershing. Good well armored tank, its rounds aren’t ideal.
Type 74 (E) for example has undoubtedly better APFSDS shell, yet worse gun handling. I can be wrong but the Type 93 is the second best she’ll in this BR range behind the Taran’s 152 mm APFSDS.
XM803 has better protection overall, better mobility and gun handling, decent APFSDS shell despite the penetration values.
T-55AM/D-1 is a mid vehicle, 3BM25 isn’t the best shell but works, doesn’t have that much of mobility but works, gun handling is the Soviet pattern, terrible, the best you can find with T-55 in the designation sits at the Swedish Tech tree: T-55M, M1000A1 shell is better overall than the 3BM25.
the top round is better yes. and the type76 is a good plateform although pretty slow and poorly armored and requires a specific playstyle.
xm803 has worse armor frontally (no spaced armor and no composite in the turret). It’s has a worse gun (that can’t penetrate the t55am1 composite without the atgm), and is easier to kill.
the added pen doesn’t matter, you’ll still bounce at range, the am1 won’t bounce the leo.
armor and gun handling are both terrible
where’s the objective part? What make a great tank is the ability to be uptiered and be still effective, and being awesome when top tier.
you forgot the am1 composite giving it a t64a level of armor in the hull so not the same armor profile at all.
what did you smoke, it doesn’t, you don’t really need to be hull down to use them.

there is the mount for it, so at least it was planned to give it, but as it never entered service, maybe it was never mounted.
If that’s the case shouldn’t other tanks with missing machine guns get them? E.g. most French tanks, the TTD and others.
